Syria – Crisis Resolution
February 5, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
The political unrest in Syria emanating from prolonged oppression is Arab Spring motivated and in semblance with other Arab States experience viz. Libya for government transfer of power,
Syrian peaceful and non-violent protest has transformed into armed conflict between the rebels and government security force.
Arab Spring is the culmination of mainstream frustration over political repression, economic disparity and social inequality within society.
The violent confrontation in Syria beginning with government crackdown witnessed even in the so-called democracies against peaceful assembly triggered the relentless street demonstration.
Meanwhile, western powers with discriminatory dealings record in response to Arab Spring demand for political freedom are perceived as opportunists to exploit situation in their favor for economic and/or strategic interest.
Considering the western instigated killings in Bahrain, Yemen and procrastination in Tunisia, Egypt not barring leading Libya into civil war, the intervention thus far has been detrimental for revolutions in the region.
The majority of authoritarian regimes being close western allies or hegemony approved puppet governments,
The substantial mistrust against western proposals largely premised on regime change with military might cannot be underestimated given the ideology driven Project for New American Century targeted goals for global dominance.
Although the vested interests vary with geopolitical dynamics,
Syrian turmoil is attributed to government failure in maintaining dialogue with political opposition as well as the people through trusted and respected intermediary in the society.
President Bashar Al Assad authorization of civilian attacks using armed forces is reprehensible and a major misstep in the attempt to quell dissent.
The continuous violence lasting over eleven months especially in Homs and Damascus outskirts was facilitated by arms influx into the state providing arms dealers incentive for ammunition supply.
Influential powers as Security Council members share responsibility for Syrian status quo.
Arming the government and opposition in Syria for balanced retaliation is the repeat of Libyan episode.
An eye for an eye would blind the world is evident in Syrian political struggle.
The anti-government in Syria is not distinctive in terms of civilian representation due to western focus on Syria linked with Iran.
The reports on CIA and Mossad infiltration alongside Saudi Arabia covert participation through armed militia are a liability for any regional or international resolution.
Similarly Arab League mission in Syria to monitor the disturbance had a huge credibility issue with member states default on human rights and political system denying republic rule.
Any foreign interference with ulterior motive would falter in the required action.
UN Security Council resolution posed to bring stability in Syria in the absence of political fairness against militancy apparently contributed to two members i.e. Russia and China veto the proposal.
The contentious issues are UN arms embargo against Syrian government but not on the insurgency and ambiguity in the draft language stating ‘all means necessary’ similar to Libyan interception that led to military aggression and massive civilian casualty.
UNSC polarized view and decisions on Middle East in general with US veto on Palestinian statehood, discarding UN appointed counsel Justice Richard Goldstone report on Gaza in 2009 and complicity in escalating tensions against Iran with crippling sanctions…severely jeopardize council members’ integrity and impartiality in carrying out the anticipated measures in Syria.
The expansion of UNSC permanent membership inviting Brazil, Japan, South Africa, Turkey, Norway and India…to conform to contemporary economic and political paradigm is out of consideration for the council set up in twentieth century.
In light of the inherent shortcomings, the expectation for unanimity on global disputes is often challenging creating apprehension among members with reservations on human rights violation accord given the individual profile in this context.
United Nations organization purpose to defend the weak and vulnerable or step forward in recognizing Palestinian sovereignty is not necessarily the UNSC goal reflected in the misuse of veto power.
Syria heading in the direction of Libya with current mutiny has no alternative but ceasefire on all sides i.e. both the government and anti-government factions unconditional disarmament is imperative to stop the bloodshed in order to resume dialogue for peaceful political transition.
President Bashar Al Assad acknowledgment of citizens’ demand for democratic rule would defend Syria from foreign invasion and legitimize the leadership role in allowing republic governance to succeed as the viable political resolution.
The political opposition in Syria – Syrian National Council, Local Coordination Committee and Free Syrian Army…delineation from foreign association would clarify the groups’ authenticity subject to Syrian nationals final approval through political referendum.
Western powers ambition to expedite military incursion in Syria under humanitarian pretext imitating Libya would be counterproductive.
Instead internationally recognized non-profit and A-political humanitarian organization access to heal the wounded and attend to the displaced population could alleviate the suffering besides dispelling any speculations on potential civil discord.
United Nations service limited to UNHCR and UNICEF operation on the ground could further assist in the humanitarian aid.
There is urgency to refrain from violence on behalf of the government and opposition alike enabling civil discourse for constructive outcome.
Procrastination in political consensus would exacerbate the prevalent chaos weakening national security.
Solidarity among political leaderships, academics, scholars and peace activists in Syrian civil society could contain the clashes and mediate peace talks honoring Syrian electorate choice of government.
The inevitable change could not be stalled with political uprising having claimed many innocent lives and government determination to extend authoritarianism might replicate events in Egypt and Libya.
Syrian authority and anti-government segments are urged to lay their arms and adopt non-violent means for fruitful negotiations with immediate effect.
President Bashar Al Assad government reining control over political dissidents generated disintegration and political compromise would perhaps reverse the trend towards republican democracy.
Peace and liberty are the fundamental rights of all citizens regardless of faith, race and gender.
The desire to dominate and deprive individual freedom foments radicalism at one extreme and reason for foreign occupation in another.
Syrian citizens like fellow Arabs have endured persecution and fatalities until now,
The sacrifices would not be in vain with peace and democracy on the horizon.
Wishing the people of Syria eternal peace, progress and prosperity.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

Global Reality Check – Power, Pride and Prejudice
November 19, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
Humanity plight is largely attributed to shadow governance wielding power over politics, economics, religion, and social justice.
The military prowess and nuclear status is predominant threatening force subjugating nations to prioritize defense spending against citizens’ needs and nation building.
Any pre-emptive wars and preparation to strike targeted adversaries would be self-destructive with serious repercussions for eager participants in the world carnage.
Mideast naval fleet in the territory along with troop deployment from Iraq diverted to other closer borders viz. Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and UAE boosting pre-existing military presence is kamikaze operation doomed for failure.
The false propaganda to wage war at irreversible loss of precious lives and scarce economic resources after major debacles in Iraq and Afghanistan is yet another wake up call for citizens around the world to demand the end of illegal warfare and foreign occupation with troop return from the global base.
Current posturing in the Middle East and Asia Pacific to disrupt emerging freedom and economic growth plunging the region into chaos and catastrophe is detrimental to the source underestimating dire consequences beyond salvation.
Indian sub-continent – Pakistan in particular ever remaining the terror haven is convenient for defense industry considering the arms race to the nuclear neighbors incited against each other as nuclear rivals for strategic control.
Amazingly the worlds’ super power boasting sophisticated artillery and military together with NATO fighting the presumed war on terror previously against self-founded Al Qaeda and,
Presently Haqqani network – US State department admittedly having held meeting with them but somehow unable to terminate terrorism from the group consisting barely hundred renegades confirms the military industrial complex real mission – profitability through eternal violence claiming innocent lives all around.
Meanwhile nuclear armament in India at the White House behest prompting the subservient government in New Delhi sworn allegiance to global conglomerate in rejecting citizens’ dissent on nuclear proliferation under nuclear power pretext compounds volatility to the fragile regional relations.
Again utilizing certain disloyal and unscrupulous local elements in society,
The nexus influence on all matter especially economics, politics, nuclear and media is prominent undermining sovereignty,
To capitalize on globalization premised on collective productivity and selective income distribution – depriving the vast majority decent living standard reflecting the global power designated ‘third world’ category.
Furthermore, from Asia Pacific, Down under – Australia is the chief exporter of fossil fuel viz. coal to China.
With Labor leadership recent declaration to lift ban on uranium shipment to India amid compliance to U.S led military aggression in every frontier details the anti-environment and anti-peace adaptation to appease the apex authority.
Africa and Latin America marred with civil wars, drug wars and political instability due to U.S and foreign intervention via coup d’état as well as arms supply suppress the respective continents’ ability to overcome challenges exacerbated in corporate driven globalization for exclusive interests.
Island nations regardless of size and economic output plea to the powerful players on global warming – averting cataclysmic 2 degree Centigrade temperature rise by Kyoto Treaty ratification and COP16 implementation is unheeded with resistance from energy industry backed political leaderships representing key polluting states.
Europe grappling with contagion factor on solvency is determined to impose drastic cuts in vital programs – education, health, retirement and housing…hurting the youth, working families and senior citizens – the vulnerable in the society.
Contrarily no tax reform in taxing the super rich or,
Closing financial institutions that allow legal deposits of illegal funds from tax evasions, national treasury embezzlement such as kickbacks on government contracts, corruption deals, arms sales, extortion, human trafficking and narcotic trade…
Comprising varied remittances draining the originating country’s financial capacity with no accountability and transparency to uphold justice in a functional democracy –
None are above the law.
The investigation formality stops at expendable members while real beneficiaries under privileged status granted impunity from treason and significant crimes compromising national image, wealth and credibility.
United States – Treading on Europe’s path experiencing rising national debt at $14.6 trillion with,
No agreement on balanced budget, jobs bill, infra structure improvement to spur growth and,
Free trade instead of fair trade practice declined by the people in the partner nations viz. South Korea, Colombia and Panama.
Clean Energy Obstructionism – Congressional examination of Solyndra insolvency involving the White House with taxpayer dollar investment $528 million in solar energy company is legitimate for fact finding purpose and future guidelines.
Solyndra with inherent deficiencies from inception receiving federal funding to a tune of half billion dollars creates a perception – eluding to discredit renewable energy options counteracted by none other than big oil companies generously financing both political party candidates throughout congressional and Presidential race.
Likewise the exercise conducted on taxpayer dollars squandered in illegal invasion and occupation of foreign land specifically Iraq benefitting Halliburton and then subsidiary KBR Inc.( Kellog, Brown and Root) would eliminate partisan politics stigma in truth exploration and justification on taxpayer fund investments.
On the warfront – Troop withdrawal from Iraq would be genuine upon troops returning back to United States and not deployed on Iraq’s periphery or around Persian Gulf prevalent in the growing tension against Iran.
U.S and Allies double standards: Arab Spring effect in the Middle East is addressed differently and entirely dependent on political ties with U.S. and favored ally – Israel.
Syrian violent crackdown is reprehensible and assault on unarmed civilians with firearms seemingly a pattern among autocratic regimes ignoring the equally devastating conclusion witnessed particularly in Egypt and Libya.
The situation in Syria could be prevented from becoming Libya in terms of civil war had there not been arms delivery to dictatorial governments from democratic nations.
Military hardware disarmament through diplomatic channel viz. Arab League and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) rigorous actions against leadership Bashar al-Assad and loyalists unlike U.S. and NATO dismantling in Libya would save many lives and contain violence.
There has been many hearings on Syria at the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington D.C.
However, same response and committee sessions are missing for other nations in the Middle East beginning with Palestinian statehood at the UN like Israeli state establishment in 1947.
Saudi army attacks against Bahrain citizens after former Defense Secretary Robert Gates visit to the Gulf State,
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh approved merciless shooting of citizens in the non-violent dissent.
Egypt’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces pledged to hold elections early November 2011 for civilian rule.
Instead Egyptian authorities brutality against dissenters in Tahrir Square and clashes with Coptic Christians followed by the latest row with Islamists is the trend repeating Mubarak era and could perhaps exit the same way.
Kuwait citizens have joined the Arab revolution with the discord in Kuwaiti Parliament and the stakes are much higher given,
The Al Sabah dynasty strong military alliance with United States represented by 25,000 U.S troops and more relocated from Iraq in the so-called troop withdrawal.
Saudi Arabia and Jordan as the western partners escape media attention and political leaderships scrutiny on the relevant political sea change in order.
Nuclear wise reiterating the earlier facts – The western powers vying to supply uranium to India and concurrent condemnation of Iran’s nuclear program is contradictory generating nuclear competitiveness and non-proliferation default in the expansive nuclear power aspiration.
Attempts or the lack thereof to resolve manufactured crises from economy to environment is losing authenticity with people frustration demonstrated in peaceful protests like ‘Occupy all over.’
The bipartisan Super Committee proposals on deficit control are more directed at Medicare, Medicaid and Social security – the American family lifeline.
Divestments from Pentagon unaudited expenditure and extravagant military ambitions drowning the U.S. and global economies in debts could aid economic stimulus through job creation and investments to broaden prospects in education, research, health and clean energy pursuits for healthy environment.
Occupy protesters were evacuated from zuccoti park during the week on community hazard basis and elsewhere the approach was aimed at crowd dispersal to discourage constitutional right for peaceful assembly.
Nonetheless, the Occupy movement is resilient in exhibiting strength from coast to coast devoid of media coverage.
The 99% bearing the brunt of 1% blunders in economic, political, social and environmental policies at home and globally is one voice unified in bringing about the long overdue change –
Republic governed democratic system principled in fairness and equality for all.
Greed motivated global dominance showing no respect for life anywhere is the root cause of humanity suffering.
Mighty, powerful and the privileged are exempt from tax and judicial probe on general to monumental crimes that is otherwise enforced upon ordinary citizens with inhumane and extraordinary conditions.
Judicial inquiry and investigative process effectively transformed into political gimmicks with guilty either set free or shielded from public exposure.
Selective corporate media and communication outlets in cohort with politics obsessed with truth subversion, perversion, and profanity in certain segments deteriorating in moral and ethical standards – the fundamentals of civilized society.
Not to mention the deviation from substance and solutions for global problems ascribed to flawed strategies and presumptuous decisions ignoring grievous outcome.
Peace and diplomacy discarded for war and belligerence to promote misguided agenda at life and planet peril.
The status quo dictated by few is unsustainable and arguably engaged in losing battle against worldwide people power.
Mass consciousness dedicated to peace and non-violence could gain momentum expediting inevitable change and turning hope into reality for seven billion –
Seeking political freedom, economic progress, social equality and environment protection.
Humility is the virtuous trail leading to profound values that enrich human character for inner peace and happiness.
Inaction and tolerance to injustice make the powerful become powerless reversing the course in human development.
Individuals possess the power to produce positive results in life.
Will power without compromising honesty and integrity to succeed against all odds would enable reaching the mountain peak.
The vibrant youth energy in every society is resourceful and could be optimally used in self and national empowerment committed to saving habitat and humanity.
On that optimistic note – Wishing Good Luck and Best Wishes to Global movement in solidarity for peace, liberty and prosperity for all.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

UN – Palestinian Statehood Resolution
September 27, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
During the United Nations General Assembly 66th Session last week,
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas submitted the plea for Statehood and full UN membership as the sovereign state on behalf of 10,900,000 Palestinians in Palestine, the Arab region and the rest of the world combined in an effort to end the freedom struggle.
Palestinian citizens have been seeking sovereignty over six decades with recognition from more than 122 countries earlier and a significant number now affirming solidarity behind long overdue Palestinian independence.
Israeli-Palestinian conflict arising from Israeli occupation and settlements expansion along with checkpoints and barrier wall construction in Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem has exacerbated peace talks defaulting to Israeli military aggression and Hamas rocket firing with civilian casualties on both sides diminishing peace prospects.
Furthermore, Israel being the United States strongest ally and the largest military as well as monetary aid recipient overwhelmingly favored by the benefactor – United States in the so-called peace process.
Negotiations thus far have failed with United States obliging Israel’s position under security pretext while allowing rapid settlements growth in the occupied Palestinian land fomenting justified anger and frustration among beleaguered Palestinians.
United States open declaration to veto resolution on Palestinian Statehood claiming the move unilateral confirms the bias maintained all along with Whitehouse and U.S. Congress rejection of UN Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict by Justice Richard Goldstone in 2009 and Freedom Flotilla 2010 –
The sworn allegiance to the all powerful Israel especially in clear violation of international laws has adversely affected peace dialogue in the otherwise resolvable dispute.
Israel and United States objection over Palestinian approach through United Nations for statehood is self-contradictory considering the precedence in Israeli Statehood originating from British Mandate of Palestine in 1947 evolving into –
The newly set up UN organization approval of the Palestine Partition Plan (United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181) on 29 November 1947 dividing the nation into two states viz. Arab and Jewish despite Arab disagreement then against the imposition.
Subsequently on May 14, 1948 the World Zionist Organization Executive Head and Palestine Jewish Agency President – David Ben-Gurion proclaimed Israel independence on the day before the British mandate expiration. Soon after David Ben-Gurion became Israel’s first Prime Minister.
Since Israel emergence – the UN majority member states through numerous resolutions have disapproved Israel’s territorial incursions, the continuous settlements in West Bank and military invasions, administration and laws on East Jerusalem – illegal and invalid.
In terms of the present United Nations Security Council resolution on the pertinent issue – granting statehood to Palestine in semblance to UN General Assembly Resolution 181 in the establishment of Israel,
United States opposition to Palestinian request is subjugation on the Palestinian population and a major setback for modern democratic society representing the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.
United States could play a positive role in Israel and Palestine’s common interest with the UNSC vote without threatening to jeopardize history in making.
United Kingdom following suit would be a great opportunity in reparation of the incomplete British Mandate for Palestine enabling a new dimension to the status quo.
Besides, the liberal partner in the current coalition UK government has a unique moment to fulfill the pledge to restore human rights and freedom on and offshore in the crucial UNSC vote for Palestinian statehood.
France backing Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly 66th session could be exemplified in action with the vote that would pronounce the European commitment to liberty and democracy.
Russia having cast the vote for the two-state solution on pre 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital is a formidable peacemaker in the monumental UN resolution.
China’s vote at the Security Council for Palestinian cause would define the relations with Middle East and Islamic nations in Central Asia and Africa given the emerging economy’s energy dependent status not excluding the anticipated export demand.
Understandably, Israel and Palestinian authorities have relevant concerns over issues similar to the events in the aftermath of Israel establishment.
Although the situation now contrast with the circumstances then with few exceptions, it is necessary to consider the factors for smooth transitioning and long lasting peace.
Israel highlighted on security, borders, Arab world accepting Israel sovereignty and the right to return for residency.
Security – Israel being the nuclear nation together with United States providing nuclear, military and logistic capabilities are indomitable forces in the region dispelling the myth about security matter.
Poignantly, Palestinian emancipation would preoccupy the citizens in nation building and renew trade relation with Israel preventing unnecessary intrusion from fundamentalism or anti-Semitism that would mean anti-Palestinian growth.
Border – Per unanimous consensus among UN member states and United Nations Security Council Resolution 242, which underscores –
“The inadmissibility of the territory acquisition by war”,
Hence incumbent upon Israel to withdraw from occupied territories in exchange for normal dealings with Arab partners based on the “Land for peace” policy.
Accordingly, territories claimed in 1967 Six-Day War by Israel will be returned i.e. West Bank (Judaea and Samaria), East Jerusalem, the Gaza strip to Palestine and the Golan Heights to Syria respectively.
Retaining the traditional demarcations of the Old City in Jerusalem into the Muslim Quarter, the Jewish Quarter, the Christian Quarter and the Armenian Quarter,
With due reverence to all religions – Judaism, Islam, Bahá’í and Christianity in the Holy city of Jerusalem:
In the Israeli controlled Old City comprising the Western Wall and the Temple Mount,
The Western Wall and only the Jewish place of worship at the Temple Mount would be assigned as the Jewish territory.
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre also known as the Church of the Resurrection – important to Christians near Muristan in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem to assume the specific religious designation without infringement from other religions.
However, the Old City with Al Aqsa Mosque located on the far southern side of the Temple Mount facing the Holy Mecca and the Dome of the Rock in the middle sacred to Islam and the Muslim community site, Waqf would be part of the Palestinian territory.
Israeli government enforced controversial ban on prayer by non-Muslim visitors at the site creating false perception is to be lifted for religious and communal harmony.
Israel sovereignty: Reiterating the ‘Land for peace’ premise, Arab recognition of Israel sovereignty is directly linked to Israel honoring Palestinian statehood under the defined goals.
The trend reversal from chaos to calmness rests on reciprocation for bilateral and regional peace.
Right to Return: Palestinian diaspora – the refugees in Jordan, Syria, Iraq and across the Middle East in particular, return to post-independent Palestine could be reinstated as Palestinian citizens in Palestinian territory.
They could perhaps be economic migrants expediting productivity and development in Gaza – the coastal strip having experienced the ill effects of warfare.
Simultaneously, immigration laws applicable for entry into Israel and vice versa unless a bilateral agreement is entered between Palestinian and Israeli governments to promote education, business and tourism through special visa for neighbors.
The contentious issues from the Palestinian side are – Israeli occupation, settlements expansion, check posts and borders.
Repeating the process from 2005 in Gaza – Complete withdrawal of Israeli troops and settlers in addition to dismantling check posts from all Palestinian territories is required in compliance with UN resolution on Palestinian statehood.
Any violation in this regard would constitute breach of international treaty with economic sanctions, freezing bank accounts and diplomatic ties, travel restrictions and denying aviation, marine and ground access as consequences to rejecting peace accord.
Israeli-Palestinian crisis has prolonged over decades in averting peace rather than confrontation with intransigence prevailing over reason.
The loss of precious lives in Palestine and Israel could no longer be in vain and Palestinian citizens approach UN General Assembly in trust and hope for formal identity with their native land.
United Nations Security Council and General Assembly members are once again entrusted with the humanitarian task of ending people suffering identical to UNGA action in 1948 towards Israel.
Palestine will be born again with global endorsement for statehood at the United Nations,
Israel could share the inevitable peace and progress as a reliable ally and innovative partner leading the region and the rest of the world in all frontiers.
Permanent resolution to Israeli Palestinian dispute is within grasp and procrastination is evidently detrimental to world security reverting to cyclical violence.
Israel and Palestine have been burying their future – the youth caught in the crossfire.
It is time to ceasefire in settlement for a new beginning.
Best Wishes and Good Luck! To Palestine and Israel for successful two-state coexistence in peace.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

July 4, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
United States celebrates declaration of independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776.
Independence day marks the value of freedom, the inalienable human right conforming to natural law that all are born to be free.
Nations across the world have fought for sovereignty since civilization and the battle continues now in the modern age.
Previously the countries were seeking emancipation from foreign invaders on their soil and presently the struggle remains the same but made complex with the people fighting against the respective heads of state or governments appointed by external powers for political and economic dominance.
Land invasions are prevalent at extreme human suffering in the relevant domain denying them an opportunity to survive without violence.
Exerting authority by use of force through armed personnel traditionally recruited for national defense and public security is exclusively used for advancing personal agenda.
Freedom oppression is not restricted to political rights although the representation would grant equal access to the marginalized segments in the society drawing attention with funding for various problems related to social, economic and environment cause.
Economic freedom is increasingly deprived with governments under corporate control in the globalization era focused on remaining in power while special interests draft legislation to suit their immediate and long-term goals leaving the main street vulnerable to fiscal woes stemming from various industries assertive role in policy matter.
From taxation to toxic assets, the decisions favor the wealthiest and corporate interests with financial burden on the average citizens escalating beyond realistic means exacerbating national debt settlement.
The deficit contributed by unsubstantiated expansive warfare, corporate indulgence in activities producing unmitigated losses and inherent corruption within political class are addressed imposing severe austerities to the detriment of mainstream population despite them being the victims in the willful economic mismanagement.
Instead the quasi functionality sharing the public and private sector attributes directed at job oriented economic growth, environmental protection and social development in bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots could be nationally beneficial accelerating productivity and required efficiency at all levels.
In the contemporary period, freedom is determined by influential political powers discretionary actions executed under national security pretext defying international law on human rights and warfare.
Meanwhile political representatives elected to office in a democracy to curb misuse of power at the executive and legislative branch seemingly positioned at defending or objecting similar policies based on party affiliations rather than implications on humanity at large allowing individual sentiments override rationality.
The Superpower syndrome is exhibited in maintaining large military presence via combat forces and/or utilizing sophisticated technology to circumvent the contentious ‘boots on the ground’ factor,
Besides holding the so-called terror suspects in detention indefinitely without due process showing little or no concern for others rights and their freedom aspirations.
Patriot Act targeting citizens for political reasons is an affirmation of discriminatory law fostering isolation and polarization within diverse society.
United States freedom is rejoiced every year with fanfare and justified in commemorating hard fought independence.
Simultaneously being instrumental, as honest brokers barring preferential treatment in the establishment of independent states would further signify the prominent image as the land of the free and home of the brave.
For instance in the Middle East peace process – according to the latest reports on June 29, 2011:
“Military cooperation with Israel is at an all-time high;
President Barack Obama has supplied Israel with a key missile defense system;
The U.S. boycotted an anti-racism conference seen as anti-Israel; and
America is set to spend valuable international political capital beating back a Palestinian independence declaration at the United Nations in September.”
U.S. involvement behind the scenes with respect to Libya, Egypt, and constantly against Palestine favoring the strongest ally Israel has been counterproductive derailing the six decades old conflict resolution.
Whether it is Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and poignantly Palestine among Islamic nations or North Korea, Tibet, Burma…in Asia,
Likewise in Africa and Latin America in the absence of vested interests,
United States and U.N. permanent Security Council members’ procrastination in extending unequivocal support and solidarity to the persecuted citizens’ liberation movement has consistently disrupted long overdue political liberty and republic rule free of foreign influence.
U.N. Security Council permanent membership reconfiguration request with members representing the economic and geopolitical status reflecting twenty first century progress and constraints is rejected excepting false promises to certain aspirants in order to secure trade agreements – confirms the lack of commitment for genuine world peace.
United States is at the helm to be the wind beneath the wings for the nations in rising like a phoenix.
Freedom cherished at home is dedicated to those who sacrificed their precious life,
Notwithstanding the courageous patriots for their ingenuity and thoughtful framework to guide the nation on the path to glory upholding democratic principles, national sovereignty through republic governance and honoring civil rights.
Happy Fourth of July!
Peace on earth.
Thank you.

May 14, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
When the political establishment in the so-called democracy is protected with impunity and exempted from any accountability, the political system could no longer be identified as the republic rule.
The mainstream press and media as well as certain networks in cohort with political power decision to defy public demand in bringing the culprits behind 9/11 to justice,
Illegal invasion of Iraq under false pretext that has claimed thousands of U.S and coalition troops’ lives not to mention the millions of innocent civilian deaths and displacement.
Similarly Osama Bin Laden died a decade ago and the recent alleged elimination through extrajudicial execution in a unilateral decision without any evidences,
Hence severely lacking in credibility is slighted making a mockery of democracy.
New World Order sworn to secrecy convene meetings in secret locations barring journalists and press corps from the public domain with the NWO media personnel to cover the event and,
The members representing the powerful wings of political, economic, mass media, military, intelligence, royalty…formulate policies on global matter without the world population knowledge or consent.
The premium membership provides exclusive privileges like high profile and key positions in the international organizations such as IMF, World Bank and United Nations.
Notwithstanding government leaderships regardless of the political system represented in the United States, EU, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Most importantly the value added benefit from NWO membership is derived from –
Authorization to illegal invasion and occupation of foreign land,
Reserve the right to kill in a underworld style,
Toppling democratically elected governments for political and strategic advantage with IMMUNITY as these actions are never even recognized a crime.
NWO is a conglomerate comprising powerful forces thus far responsible for the status quo.
Obviously the objectives being dominate the world as a shadow government undermining and depriving citizens meaningful democracy across the globe.
NWO aim evidenced in the surreptitious and blatant attacks to amass world resources for distribution among the few amid causing death, chaos and carnage is tolerated by those complacent and apathetic to the vast majority plight.
It is poignant to highlight the United States and allies’ role in the systematic military aggression and use of force in various parts of the world under NWO chartered course to establish one world controlled by the nexus group having successfully derailed economic prospects, political stability and suppressing social equality through unpopular governments appointed against electoral mandate and virtue of royalty viz.
Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan …to name a few.
New World Order economic pursuit is diversified and reflected in energy, finance, agriculture, health, education etc.
Health insurance and health care industry reining control over the health care legislation in the IUnited States unfolded during the health care deal between the industry and the White House that guarantees 30 million mandatory subscribers to the health insurers facilitating exploitative incentives with no premium caps on the subscription.
Social Security privatization as seen in France Pension plan with extended retirement age much against public revolt is already making its way through in the U.S. Congress.
Energy policy designed and developed by the energy behemoths in the oil, mining and nuclear industry much to the environment disaster are granted unlimited access to conduct offshore deep and shallow water drilling including hydrofracking, mountaintop removal for mining, nuclear power plants without safe disposal of nuclear waste – despite catastrophic impact on life and the habitat.
In the United States, the energy industry especially the oil companies, coal and nuclear sectors are currently in the process of receiving tax subsidies per the latest Congressional hearing.
Elsewhere the energy minister is erroneously the environment minister strongly defending the coal, oil and nuclear industry.
Challenging the energy industry against planet destruction has been a daunting task for the environmental groups.
In fact the environment organizations coming together as a single indomitable force is necessary to save the planet from ruin.
The fragmented environment organizations unified measures would be formidable in achieving the desired goals than otherwise.
With respect to foreign policy – The U.S. State department has conspicuously moved away from the real purpose of restoring peace, diplomacy and democracy.
On the contrary the track record exemplified in espionage, coup d’état, illegal wiretapping and advice to conceal evidences in national and international issue viz. Osama Bin Laden alleged killing in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
The Defense department and Intelligence agencies maintaining synonymous trajectory worldwide in the supposed war on terror and violation of civil liberties with utter disregard for life and international law exhibited in the prolonged detentions without due process in Guantanamo bay, torture, renditions, mercenary operatives in occupied territories overseas resulting in the local population calamity and embarrassment for the nation.
Congressional lawmakers and judiciary alike until now have not taken any initiative to inquire, investigate and indict anyone with the justice department under White House concerted declaration to extend ‘classified’ information indefinitely claiming redemption and not retribution in the matter to absolve them on prevalent wrongdoings.
The pattern continues with the political class particularly the executive branch systemic abuse of power on national and global issues refuting ground reality and rejecting the request for transparency.
Former President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, White House political adviser and Confidante Karl Rove, Former CIA Director George Tenet, Former U.S. Secretaries of State Gen. Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Attorney Generals John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonsalez…
Not excluding the Military Commanders and Intelligence officials serving at that time are –
Required to stand trial for 9/11 truth behind horrific attacks.
Prolonging Afghanistan war under the pretext “Hunt for Osama Bin Laden” after knowing and admitting that CIA aided leader Osama Bin Laden was dead in Dec 2001.
Illegal invasion of Iraq under false premise.
Vice President Dick Cheney for Halliburton related various corporate and war crimes.
Bankrupting the U.S. economy generating global economic depression.

Ironically, the crimes have been consistently committed by authorities at the helm posing a major security threat to citizens world over.
International Court of Justice is selectively utilized at NWO will. If not, justice would have been served to the millions victimized in the absolute authoritarianism disguised in myriad format.
In the present administration – Beginning with the Office of Presidency,
President Barack Obama for Health Care Scandal and dismissal of the public plea to clarify on the pact with Health Insurance industry – 30 million mandatory subscribers with penalty imposed on Health Care law non-compliance to become effective partially in 2012 and entirely in 2014. At the same time no restrictions on premium hikes against health insurance industry.
Expanding wars and troops deployment in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen and now Libya on unsubstantiated grounds.
Refusal to ban landmines and unwilling to ratify the international treaty.
Collusion with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for permanent troops presence in the Palestinian State of West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem thereby halting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Bush-Cheney doctrine confirming NWO motto continued on economy, environment, foreign policy and warfare.
Skyrocketing national debt at $14.3 trillion burdened on middle class and lower income America.
Yet unwillingness to contain extravagant defense expenditure and coherence with opposition to Bush tax cuts extension for the wealthy.

Bahrain, Yemen and Saudi Arabia – Reservations on political uprisings compared with overwhelming anticipation in Syria fostering rumors on CIA intrusion rather than upholding a uniform policy in the region.
Libya – deliberation and procrastination to recognize citizens represented Transition Council in Benghazi emboldened Libyan dictatorship with the situation evolving into NWO long time aspiration – military invasion of Libya to sustain direct ownership on oil fields.
Osama Bin Laden resurrection to life and the purported killing in the no-evidence necessary entitlement proclaiming Presidential discretion as the rule of law.
Vice President Joe Biden – alliance with White House on Health Care, Foreign Policy and environment issues.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – The U.S State Department prominently engaged as the espionage epicenter and,
Incidentally availing Wikileaks as the tool to create drifts and confusion in foreign government rule per covert arrangement in the extradition charges repeal against the founder Julian Assange.
Orchestrating coup d’état in Honduras, Ecuador and Lebanon, launching NWO preferred leaderships in the regions regarded economically and politically vital for dominance.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates – in the implementation of NWO warfare across the Middle East and Islamic nations.
Attorney General Eric Holder – Diligently administering the White House policy on reprieving Bush-Cheney administration litany of evidence supported charges.
Intervention and influencing judgments in civil matter at the White House behest.
Military Commander Gen. David Petraeus for protracted wars in the absence of reasonable justification.
Unless these entities actions and decisions attributed to pervasive humanitarian crises are investigated in a judicial and Congressional impartial hearing in public view with appropriate findings typical to the application of law against ordinary citizens,
The judiciary and Congress are rendered ineffective for failing to exercise the checks and balances in reinstating republic rule.
Their complacency and to a great extent complicity in the reluctance to restitute democratic values by allowing extraordinary executive power until now is expediting democracy’s decline.
The seemingly democratic representation at the executive and other branches effectively serving as the NWO leaderships for global monopoly through parallel government set up to function as single indomitable force to reckon with.
If the twentieth century witnessed the fall of iron curtain in the former Soviet Union and the Berlin wall in the then Communist East Germany,
It’s time to peacefully and non-violently demolish undemocratic proxy empire New World Order and the Council on foreign relations (CFR), the counterparts in Europe and elsewhere in the twenty first century with worldwide protest to cease clandestine activities and insist the members – the governments and the rest to disavow allegiance to secret society.
Hesitation in honoring the legitimate terms would categorically reveal the facade.
The conglomerate having successfully revived pre-World War II repressive era through violence, oppression, persecution and most relevantly endangering civil rights and political freedom in the perceived democratic but realistically non-democratic governance.
Since the call to dismantle New World Order largely discarded and possibly smirked,
It is incumbent upon the citizens in civil society to rise against double standards delineating the privileged political class with special protection from interrogation or prosecution while the average mainstream population subject to the maximum culpability.
Global revolution is paramount to abolish the paradox system favoring the perpetrators of crimes against humanity and punishing the innocent as ‘collateral damage,’ causing widespread poverty, hunger, disease and,
Economic despair triggering political upheavals heightened by social injustice.
New World Order existence is conclusively harmful to peace and harmony due to the discreet society’s pledge to wage wars and maintain universal discord for individual gains.
The international community cannot afford to remain dormant with the mushroom cloud about to permeate across the sky.
Therefore bringing down the New World Order responsible for global misery is a priority and preliminary step towards democracy revival.
It is incumbent upon every citizen to safeguard democracy with liberty and justice for all.
Please remember the planet survival is dependent upon the inhabitants’ dedication and commitment to steer the respective nations’ future in a positive direction contradictory to the present time – diminishing to the point of no return.
Citizens’ active participation in policy-making is quintessential much to the governments’ dissent.
Considering significant percentage of policy makers as elected representatives trend periodically demonstrated in their misplaced loyalty to special interests, unscrupulous internal and external sources for assorted reasons excepting national and republic interest.
Please act now and preserve your rights – born to be free and not in bondage by deterring the forces against humanitarian and environmental cause.
Silence and inaction are the worst foes to democracy.
Solidarity movement around the world for common good is vital to realize political independence that would eventually deliver economic prosperity, social equality and global peace.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

February 2, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
The pro-democracy protest in Egypt is currently developed into Million Citizens March demanding the dictatorial power resignation remaining defiant in prolonging the undemocratic rule.
Meanwhile the latest report on February 1, 2011 from Washington D.C. issued by the U.S. State Department is –
“State Dept. spokesman P.J. Crowley reiterated the White House’s position that President Mubarak must enact political and economic reforms as he pledged. We want to see concrete actions that show the government of Egypt is responding to the aspirations of the Egyptian people.”
For the U.S. administration’s kind information – the aspirations of the Egyptian people is the removal of repressive regime headed by their embattled ally President Hosni Mubarak.
Ignoring the republic will for fundamental change beginning with the head of the state is categoric refusal of real democracy for vested interests.
Further the U.S. double standards in foreign policy is accentuated through staunch support for totalitarian governments across the Middle East with selective elimination of adversary (once an ally) Iraq’s former President Saddam Hussein through warfare while protecting the strategic partner President Hosni Mubarak against Egyptian citizens’ peaceful plea for his ousting.
Again the differential policy maintained despite widespread persecution and human rights violation throughout West Asia.
It is ominously clear that such discriminatory foreign policy foments disenfranchisement contributing to the status quo.
Tunisian deposed leader Ben Ali and now Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak as well as several other U.S allies would not be in power without the established complacency to despotism.
Until today Iraq war architects vehemently defend the illegal invasion and occupation in the face of prevalent chaos and destruction with millions of displaced Iraqis having become refugees in their homeland and significant population stranded in the neighboring nations.
The U.S. justification on military aggression at phenomenal loss of human lives and economic costs was democratic Iraq and ending Saddam Hussein’s brutal era.
If the western criteria on Middle East and any Islamic nation democracy is nominating puppet figure as the head of the state implementing autocratic rule to contain fundamentalism or radicalism although emanating from the biased policy with mediocre economic standards to inhibit political transformation in semblance to People’s Republic of China- i.e. state controlled free market economy with no political freedom,
It is noteworthy that Iraq was economically stable with decent health care, higher education facilities, solid infrastructure and poignantly no Al-Qaeda or Iranian regime infiltration prior to 2003 military attack and subsequently the U.S. appointed pro-Iranian government with Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki yet to stabilize the beleaguered nation from foreign troops.
Egypt population comparatively disadvantaged with distinct socio-economic disparities under U.S. and allies favored President Hosni Mubarak.
The U.S. stance in Egyptian uprising and the rest of Middle East is diametrically opposed to American democratic values – the so-called political and economic reforms cannot be realistic with unpopular leader President Hosni Mubarak given the trajectory over three decades.
The massive corruption and political suppression with concentrated power among the affluent members in the society is forced upon the people regardless of the devastating impact up until now.
It is deeply regrettable that those nations taking pride in individual liberty and political freedom at home are instrumental in safeguarding the illegitimate governments – monarchy, theocracy… anything except democracy in the Arab world and China.
Appointing new Prime Minister and reshuffling cabinets are ad hoc responses purely for self-salvation and compliance to foreign powers influence for prolonging authoritarianism.
It does not necessarily address the immediate requirement and that being the dynasties and theocracy renunciation of power to allow republic governance through free and fair elections with candidates endured suffering like political imprisonment for years and fought against government abuse of power by remaining in the country experiencing national political struggle.
In Egypt the opposition leader Ayman Abd El Aziz Nour imprisoned for political dissidence from 2005 to 2009 by President Hosni Mubarak and recently hospitalized for sustaining injury during peaceful protest on January 28, 2011 is committed to human rights, constitutional reform limiting Presidential powers and opening Presidential elections to multiple candidates.
People in Egypt would enormously benefit from choosing a local resident leader like Ayman Nour for having demonstrated loyalty to the people through self-sacrifice and continue to pledge support for Egypt liberation.
Moreover there is prominent commonality between the leader Ayman Nour and Egyptian main street in many aspects – the present ruling power abuse in particular and could relate to the plight on personal accounts.
Any other choices for political leadership ex-IAEA Chief Mohammed El Baradei with excess western exposure and regional power intimacy would be susceptible to skepticism among wary political factions and may not sustain power leading to destabilization within a short period.
Therefore providing opportunity to young vibrant leaderships such as Ayman Nour – national university law graduate with verifiable service to the local population would set precedence for future political aspirants considering a vast majority likely to obtain higher education from within the country due to individual situations and financial reasons.
Egypt will be strong and stable under democratic system represented by leadership dedicated to national progress devoid of foreign intervention either western or regional predominantly responsible for political mayhem as witnessed in Iraq.
People in Egypt could realize their political dream through unity and resilience paramount to prevail against the power hungry external sources backed government.
President Mubarak declaration not to run for office next term is nothing but desperate times seeking desperate measures.
The message from the Egyptian patriots is clear – President Hosni Mubarak must step down and procrastination in departure would exacerbate political crisis having already claimed many lives.
Egyptian citizens should not be disheartened from the delay tactics and political maneuvering – not uncommon for authority unwilling to surrender especially amid their crumbling world thereby confirming the self-interest over national interest.
They decline defeat – the destiny and their denial in this regard is the irony.
The pro-democracy demonstrators determined to succeed against all odds would initially conquer fear nonetheless in strict adherence to peace and non-violence – a formidable challenge against any force.
Likewise the mass movement in Jordan determined to abolish monarchy continued in the modern twenty first century would be wise to reject the political appointments carried out under global society privileged members’ instructions to rein control over domestic affairs in the entire Middle East for economic colonization and political dominance.
It is time for every Middle Eastern citizen subject to tyranny emulate Tunisian achievement in people power dismissal of the repressive government.
Whether it is Iran, Syria, Jordan, Palestine – besieged Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Qatar, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan…or Egypt – to rise to political awakening and restore inalienable human rights for all are born to be free and not held in permanent confinement at the elitists behest.
All things must end for a peaceful new beginning. Democracy is meaningful with public participation in electoral process to elect representatives and leaders with political will, courage, integrity and above all exemplify the solemn oath towards national defense, social equality including women empowerment, universal peace and prosperity.
Any security or armed personnel violence against peaceful dissidents would be self-detrimental for the authorities and restraining use of force is highly recommended.
Similarly looting and vandalism is unacceptable jeopardizing the non-violent civilian peace activity nearing victory for democracy. Those indulging in criminal offense should be apprehended to save lives and prevent damages to private or public property.
People power as patriotic caretakers of a sovereign nation is the inevitable outcome and accepting reality would enable authority to leave in dignity.
Best Wishes and Good Luck to fellow citizens in Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Algeria, Sudan, Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Palestine…in their triumph over political tribulation.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

International Recognition of Israeli Palestinian Peace Process
January 10, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
Israeli Palestinian peace talks have come to a grinding halt following the moratorium expiration on Jewish settlements in West Bank and East Jerusalem last September.
The Palestinian casualties in early January 2011 involving a man and a woman in the northern West Bank checkpoint and the barrier is a setback for the long anticipated peace resolution between Israel and Palestinian authorities.
Additionally the recent tension in beleaguered Gaza with Israel reporting on the rocket firing by Hamas across the southern border resets the status quo after a prolonged ceasefire promoting hope for exports from Gaza to Israel.
Subsequently Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s invitation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for direct dialogue is praiseworthy.
However, the Israeli Prime Minister’s terms on negotiations without preconditions in the backdrop of ongoing settlement expansion is a dilemma for the Palestinian President considering the political challenges in their domain.
Any agreement would be feasible upon instantaneous settlement freeze that has long been contentious in the crucial interaction between the two heads of the states.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu having previously proved Israel’s commitment to two states solution through temporary settlement containment could perhaps persuade opposition within Israeli coalition in this matter rather than expecting Palestinian approval of the continuing occupation.
The two states recognition could be easily achieved with natural understanding and acknowledgment of 1967 lines for an Independent Palestinian State concurrently suspending settlement activities in Palestinian territories viz. West Bank and East Jerusalem.
As mentioned earlier Israel’s security will be strengthened by expediting the peace treaty that would enable free Palestine to focus on nation building beginning with infrastructure, economic growth, education and health care…guaranteed to promote social progress transforming existing mistrust and discord into a reliable trading partnership fostering bilateral relationship with their neighbor, Israel.
Further the Arab world would widely accept Israel’s sovereignty when peace protocol per 1967 territory is honored ceasing claim on Palestinian meager land with exponential rise in the local population.
Again reiterating requests made to both parties per post titled “Peace Dawns on Palestine and Israel – Two States Solution,” published 9/2/2010 under International Politics on this website,
Both states could reach common destination by removing roadblocks such as occupation, settlement, troop presence with checkpoints and barriers from the Israeli side and,
Palestinian efforts in maintaining solidarity within political factions while pursuing their goals through non-violent means is the pragmatic course to prevail in the decades old conflict.
Peace deal is not attainable with demolition in East Jerusalem, skirmishes in Gaza and West bank under siege. The Palestinian preparation to approach United Nations Security Council for international endorsement of liberated Palestine along the 1967 lines reveals the peace brokers’ lack of influential power and interest in resolving the Mideast crisis.
Therefore the international society could intervene in ending the Palestinian plight and Israeli political gridlock over settlements and troop withdrawal by reviewing the reality and the impact of ignoring the humanitarian suffering currently benefiting terror recruitments serving as the reason for perpetual warfare.
By addressing the Palestinian political struggle and Israeli desire for national security, the international community would effectively contribute to the success of the Israeli Palestinian peace process.
On that optimistic note, the Palestinian and Israeli leaders are urged to set their differences aside and cooperate in signing the peace accord with international blessings.
Good Luck and Best Wishes to Palestinian, Israeli and world leaders in finalizing the amicable Mideast peace doctrine.
Thank you.

Happy New Year – The World Welcomes 2011!
January 2, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
New Year Greetings to all!
Amid great many challenges ahead the world welcomes the year 2011 with hope and joy.
Human beings have consistently proved that they have the ability to overcome hardships and achieve their goals.
Reflection on the 2010 domestic and global events leads to specific issues that require public attention.
The 2010 legislative actions would clarify the impact on the economy and the ordinary citizens struggling to make ends meet in the difficult situation.
In the economic front, the job market recovery is much anticipated among the long term unemployed and underemployed citizens forced to survive on jobless benefits gained after a huge compromise on the tax cuts for the wealthiest – offering the average Americans temporary relief in exchange for a permanent tax burden.
Winning the Bush tax cuts extension to billionaires is motivating the legislators to risk baby boomers and seniors’ lifeline – Social Security.
The strong initiative to privatize Social security and increase retirement age to relieve the super-rich from tax payments is no surprise given the precedence in France pension bill incorporating the agenda.
Financial institutions on their part ensured that business is conducted as usual with little or no regard for the regulations introduced in 2010 Financial Reform due to their victory from the $19 billion tax exemption in legislation despite their major role in the global economic recession.
Their commitment to revive the economy through lending was expected to meltdown the liquidity freeze in the credit market which is yet to be fulfilled based on the prevalent facts.
Health care law passed last year mandated that the health insurance industry provide coverage to patients with pre-existing conditions.
However, the absence of premium caps on the coverage enables industry set arbitrary pricing currently hurting the subscribers in the health care for minors, since the adults will not be eligible until the health care law is effective in 2014.
Moreover the mandatory insurance subscription in the health care rule leaves the vulnerable patients i.e. the individuals with pre-existing illnesses no choice but comply with the health insurance industry policy facilitating industry dominance likely to be worsened upon becoming the law with substantial subscribers joining the insurance pool per legislative requirement.
The people are confronted with three vital issues – employment, credit needed for job creation subsequently stimulating consumer spending along with health care costs – quintessential for economic rebound in the year 2011 and beyond.
As bizarre it might be those responsible for the burgeoning crises are the beneficiaries in the deals with enormous tax liability transferred to the victims.
Defense spending on wars in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq is prolonged until 2014 with greater ambivalence on exit strategy alongside mounting casualties and the exhausted armed personnel spread thin across the combat zones.
The Senate ratification of U.S. and Russia START treaty is a preliminary step towards non-proliferation,
Juxtaposed to the White House nuclear agreement with Vietnam and offer to Iran offset the efforts in strategic arms control.
With respect to climate change – The energy sector pressure reportedly prompted the White House decision on Environment Protection Agency postponement of rigorous emission standards to curtail smog and toxic pollution in the atmosphere.
Furthermore, the federal agency plan to permit Shell Oil offshore drilling in the Arctic makes the U.S consent disingenuous at the climate summit.
The intriguing factors in all of the above mentioned issues are – net gain for Wall Street and military industrial complex is phenomenal in the White House negotiated legislation considering the democrats controlled Congress until 2010.
Again as for the political party representation – The Democratic White House had Democrat majority in the House and the Senate until December 2010.
Industries prevailing in all legislation confirm the special interests influence in Washington – notably in the lucrative health care, finance reform and Bush tax cuts for wealthy.
The democratic Congressional leaderships and the progressive members were dedicated to the American electorate and national interests.
Their hard work and determination made legislation on certain social issues such as Repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and Health care for 911 rescue workers possible surviving the routine gridlock in Capitol Hill.
Similarly the moderate Republican members like Senators Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Lisa Murkowski and few others cooperation helped in avoiding impasse on these crucial legislation.
The 112th Congress with Republican majority in the House and Senate expansion is pledged to deficit reduction by slashing life dependent services to the population at the bottom after contributing to the problem through extravagant tax exemptions to Wall Street and billionaires.
Global economic review bear semblance to Washington setbacks emanating from fiscal mismanagement.
European austerity to address respective national debt was overwhelmingly opposed by the main street as seen in France, United Kingdom, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Ireland.
Nonetheless the legislation passed against public protest is suggestive of the minority will exerted on the world population.
The U.S. State department and National Security under the incumbent administration handling of political quagmire in Afghanistan and Iraq shared identical solutions with the power entrusted to unpopular leaderships against electoral mandate.
Likewise the U.S State department’s behind the scenes preparation to reinstate deposed leadership in Pakistan revealed during the cable leaks poses the questions on legitimacy behind extended military operation and Osama Bin Laden whereabouts since he is claimed to be alive?
The failed coup d’état in Ecuador last year is a compelling evidence for national vigilance against foreign power intervention undermining democracy. The reports cited the CIA and U.S. State department’s involvement in the attempt.
Mid-East peace talks stalled with the U.S stance on letting settlements growth in Palestinian territories.
It is clear from the synopsis that the concentrated power among the nexus group successfully depriving the significant rest of political, social and economic prospects.
The republic voice in a democracy – press, news media and the elected officials’ complacency with the exception of selective honorable figures has exacerbated the status quo.
Those executing these fundamentally destructive policies for pure self-interest are not even subject to due explanation or accountability.
Instead they are granted impunity to abuse power and exercise authority in advancing the conglomerate scheme with ulterior motives.
Hence it is obligatory on the people from all walks of life across the globe to rise to the occasion and decline the oligarchy supremacy devastating lives to the point of no return.
History is testimony to the fact that change has been brought upon by the ordinary people standing up against those with extraordinary power.
It is often forgotten that the ultimate power lies with the people as the workers, employees, consumers, taxpayers and potently the electorate.
Any damages to the source inevitably affects the top of the hierarchy. When the foundation in the society is weakened the structure crumbles as a result.
It is never too late to reverse course and deliver the people’s right to individual freedom with equal access to political, social and economic opportunities.
Politics espousing democratic principles exemplified in public service produce desirable outcome benefitting all rather than the privileged few.
People power is best utilized in major transformation desperately needed at the present time.
Happy New year to all for a productive and peaceful beginning!
Thank you.

India-Pakistan Relations – Peace in the Indian Sub-Continent
November 8, 2010
By Padmini Arhant
In the last couple of days there have been many perspectives about India – predominantly expressing regrets, concerns and subliminal to scathing attacks for not embracing Gandhian principles in austerity and non-violence.
The specific reference was made against the rising Indian middle class and implied the Indian leaderships’ aspirations to be the leading economic and military power in the region.
The criticisms were largely directed at the hypothetical Indian Cold Talk and the alleged defense disposition presumably contributing to the nuclear neighbor Pakistan’s reluctance to withdraw troops from the Indian border for redeployment in the northwestern Pakistani territory to fight against the militancy.
Simultaneous statements supporting the critical assertions were issued by the U.S. military high command and the Pakistan-Afghanistan special envoy characterizing the non-existent Cold Talk as;
“A major threat undermining the US war in Afghanistan.”
These bizarre allegations deserve attention to dispel myths and widespread rumors intended to serve the divisive foreign policies facilitating the relentless war and arms race in the volatile region.
It is imperative to highlight the protocol ahead of the Presidential visit to India comprising two provocative US initiatives –
According to the reports:
Pakistani Army Chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was summoned to Washington D.C. by the White House and offered a magnanimous $2 billion military aid on 10/30/10, a week before the international voyage and subsequently,
The Pakistan’s army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, has been quoted as saying his defense posture is “India centric.”
Meanwhile, the US ambassador to India Timothy Roemer was delegated to push the American jet fighters and currently the proposal entails sensor-fused weapons or Cluster bombs and billions of dollars worth military hardware for potential use in the propaganda driven Pakistan-India confrontation.
Unequivocally, the United States recent decisions in the conventional and nuclear proliferation could be more devastating than India’s alleged militaristic ambition with the tremendous U.S. military pressure on India through the office of Presidency as the executive sales division to invest in defense weapons when the significant population in both democracies could benefit from investments in life sustenance than destruction deals.
Similarly, allowing the Retail giant Wal-Mart access to the Indian market is a political suicide given its deadly impact on small business economy. India’s vast majority survival is dependent upon entrepreneurship from street vendors to licensed small traders and family run business.
Wal-Mart arrival in India with its poor track record in the US employee’s exploitation and the Indian small businesses inevitable termination would lead to widening the gap between the haves and the have-nots ultimately backfiring against the incumbent Indian government.
With respect to India lacking in austerity – objectivity is a misnomer with the critics’ eagerness to appease the political establishment considering the domestic events such as the controversial US taxpayers funded unofficial London, Madrid trip…
Or
For that matter the three day Indian visit alone costing the US tax payers over $200 million a day.
As for India never inheriting Gandhian non-violence and evolving into an ambitious military power supposedly affecting the no-exit perpetual US war plan in Afghanistan and Pakistan;
How is it rational to offer Pakistan a $2 billion military aid rather than the desperately needed economic aid especially in the aftermath of the ravaging floods and the persistent drone attacks until now that has claimed thousands of innocent Pakistani lives under US operation?
Then on the other side, the Indian leadership arms twisted for defense contracts viz. the transportation items stripped of critical high end technology dumped on the Indian defense force draining the Indian capital reserves in billions of dollars that could otherwise be invested to save and protect millions of lives living in abject poverty.
The burden is now on the prodded Indian middle class to bear the life threatening defense and commercial ventures.
These symbolic detrimental actions by no measure conform to Gandhian or Dr. King doctrine.
Moving across to other International frontiers –
‘Obama Set to Offer Stricter Nuclear Deal to Iran’ is yet another seismic shift leaving the vulnerable Israel on the edge. Again this position by no means in adherence to Gandhi or Dr. King peace pledge alternatively the much touted nuclear disarmament during the political campaign.
The U.S. demand on India to appreciate Pakistan’s efforts on terrorism and declining to urge Pakistan to meet its end of the bargain in extraditing Mumbai terror masterminds,
Notwithstanding US default to handover the American terrorist David Headley represents the double standards that has long jeopardized US credibility in resolving international crisis.
Despite numerous terrorist activities against India originating from Pakistan, there were no military retaliation from the Indian side as falsely propagated in the so-called ‘Cold Talk’ unlike the Afghanistan war or the proxy war against Yemen in 2009 covertly conducted till date.
As stated earlier in the 10/21/10 article – India-U.S. Relationship and the Nuclear Deal published under International Politics on this website,
U.S. seeking business partnership with India is primarily focused on militarizing and nuclearizing the nation instead of reversing the trend to achieve the universal nuclear non-proliferation, the only pragmatic course to global peace and security.
In the same breath, accusing India as the growing military power in the region is political connivance misleading and instigating both India and Pakistan against one another in the same manner as Israel and Palestine are approached in the Middle East conflict.
Also explicitly denying India with the UN Security Council permanent membership is suggestive of political convenience and hypocrisy given the continuous MFN status renewal and ITO privileges to China that has been largely misused against none other than the United States.
India and the United States could forge better trade relations through civilian projects in other areas of economic benefit.
There are great opportunities in exchanging new wave technology, green sector orientation, and educational programs among many economic aspects.
It would contribute to the urgently required job growth in the U.S. with India benefiting from the advanced high end commercial agreements in non-defense aviation, heavy machinery and equipment to modernize the manufacturing sector.
Besides the multitude prospects in infrastructure improvement and construction are guaranteed to provide mutual gains.
The U.S. and India being the democratic societies could exemplify the common goal for peace and social-economic progress beginning with;
A commitment towards robust environmental policy,
Ratifying the CTBT, NPT and FMCT in concurrence with other nations,
Not barring the ICBL – the international campaign to ban land mines and,
Cultural exchange programs fostering respect and appreciation for one another.
India and Pakistan on their part could come together by setting the manifested mistrust and political differences aside to resume bilateral talks focused on strengthening economic ties through trade, transportation and most importantly signing a peace treaty involving the nuclear renunciation for a peaceful Indian sub-continent.
Both nations share rich cultural heritage and the people across the border belong to one family with adopted identities separated by external political interference.
Therefore it’s essential for the nuclear neighbors to set precedence in becoming non-nuclear and accept one another as allies not adversaries.
Pakistan and Afghanistan population have shed enough blood from the violence with no end in sight.
The vibrant middle class in Pakistan could shape the nation’s destiny by participating in political process and prioritizing nation building. The Pakistani citizens across the religious, social and economic spectrum possess the key to Pakistan’s bright future.
Pakistan and Afghanistan progress is stalled due to foreign occupation and political meddling by sources not particularly interested in the regional advancement.
Certain Pakistan military and intelligence personnel have been instrumental in derailing the democratically elected governments albeit on corruption scandals,
Nevertheless the political instability has exacerbated the fragile economic conditions with unemployed youth and under educated mass in the rural-urban areas becoming the likely recruits for terror networks attributed to the foreign Para-military troops’ infiltration and unmanned drones producing many civilian casualties.
Pakistan could end the unmitigated violence through co-operation with India and Afghanistan working in harmony instead of acrimony towards each other.
There is tremendous hope for optimistic tri-lateral relations between the three neighbors – Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.
The people in all three nations look forward to unity and tranquility in the war and terror dominant South East and Central Asia.
People power is resilient and resourceful to overcome challenges confronting the nation.
Peace to the Indian sub-continent and the rest of the world.
Thank you.

Independent Palestine – End to Israeli Occupation and Jewish Settlements
October 25, 2010
By Padmini Arhant
The Israeli-Palestinian peace process had tremendous potential for development and the recent impasse is primarily due to the lack of political will in leading the authorities to the desirable outcome.
Although the moratorium expiry on settlement expansion has contributed to the friction with the building permit issued for an estimated 534 homes in the Palestinian territory – West Bank, the United States less enthusiastic efforts to dissuade the controversial incursion predominantly derailed the progress.
Lately, the legitimate questions were raised through the panel on Israeli-Palestinian peace process:
QUESTIONS From:
Sara Roy, Senior Research Scholar – Harvard Center for Middle Eastern Studies – Thank you.
In the continued absence of a political resolution to the conflict,
1. Why must occupation be the default position?
Response – Occupation will no longer be the default position. The Israeli authorities are being misguided by the real forces behind the Middle-Eastern quagmire.
As long as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains unresolved the profiteering from the prolific arms trade continues debilitating the peace prospects and thereby exacerbating the Palestinian plight.
However, this situation will change in semblance to the historical facts that all illegal occupations and invasions eventually cease contrary to the false assumptions.
Moreover, the Palestinian and other oppressed states freedom are a top priority among the inevitable Change in the immediate future.
2. Why must Gaza be pauperized and the West Bank cantonized?
Response: Again, there is absolutely no reason for the status quo. If the strongest ally United States could influence Israel in every U.N vote on minor to major international issues,
It is incomprehensible that U.S. is unable to achieve similar consent from Israel on the settlements, territorial disputes, economic embargo on Gaza, East Jerusalem and West Bank militarization.
Israel is misled by the factions not necessarily pledged to its sovereignty or peace in the region. The coalition with the orthodox groups relying on self-determined course in promoting unlawful settlements are yet another impediment in the Israeli – Palestinian peace agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared hopeful at the last month’s preliminary peace talks and even disassociated from the Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman’s views delivered at the U.N. General Assembly in September 2010.
Therefore, the subsequent setback conspicuously leads to the internal and external political pressure on Israeli leadership to procrastinate until the Palestinian conditions deteriorate to the point of no return forcing the beleaguered Palestinian residents in Gaza and other occupied territories to become the Israeli subjects on Palestinian homeland.
Imperialism in the twenty first century is a far-fetched aspiration for a democratic nation unnecessarily projecting the provocateur image to the international community.
Further, the provocation generates the requirement to stockpile weaponry not excluding nuclear arsenal pervading across the globe.
It would be fair to point out that Israeli leadership might not be overtly pursuing the agenda but the current occupation confirms the reality much to the global disappointment.
Israel must realize that with the rocket firing cessation and relatively isolated violence from Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem construction and series of human rights violation through unilateral economic sanctions against Gaza combined with the military deployment in the Palestinian territories are counterproductive placing the democratic nation in spotlight as the belligerent authority.
As a result, Israel is isolated from the rest of the world and made vulnerable with United States and the remnant Western nations as the few allies for normal relationship.
Additionally, the U.S. threat not ruling out the nuclear options against Israel’s adversary undermines the sovereignty and capability to defend itself despite Israel’s nuclear empowerment.
Israel is a free nation but has not demonstrated in the U.N. voting or Palestinian issue thus far.
Accordingly Israel is perceived as the United States Union territory rather than an independent state maintaining cordial relations with Arab and other nations around the world.
3. Why are Palestinians treated as a humanitarian problem rather than as people with political and national rights entitled to self-determination?
Response: The Palestinians have endured enormous pain and misery in the prolonged political stalemate.
Palestinians as people are entitled to political and national rights in every aspect.
Under the imminent free Palestine – the territories clearly demarcated prior to 1967 Israeli conquest would constitute the integral part of the liberated Palestine particularly the entire West Bank and Gaza comprising East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital.
With respect to the refugee population spread across Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza – the new treaty enacting the right of return to the Palestinian expatriates would grant naturalization to the emigrants.
4. Why should Palestinians be forced to accept their own decay?
Response: Palestinians will not decay any more.
There is unanimous consensus among the majority in the global society to expedite the two states solution with independent Palestine co-existing alongside democratic Israel confined to the internationally recognized pre-1967 boundaries.
Jerusalem being the holy city for all three religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam,
It is imperative that the leaderships establish peace and harmony between Palestinian and Israeli citizens for mutual social and economic benefits.
5. Why must they be punished for resisting?
All are born to be free with equal rights. Palestinian and fellow citizens around the world seeking independence are not deprived from it.
Unfortunately quelling dissent is increasingly accepted as the norm even in a democratic society let alone any other form of government.
History is testimony to the fact that one voice ultimately transforms into the universal representation prevailing against undemocratic rule and social injustice.
Since time immemorial, the unjust annexation or in the other extreme the unruly secessionism defying historical evidence is narcissism than serving the humanitarian cause.
Palestine and similar states liberation is not a hypothesis but a definitive reality.
If Israeli coalition partner is the obstacle in the Palestinian political resolution, then the Israeli authority could forge alliance with the party prioritizing Israel’s peaceful existence over personal ideology.
Hence, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas could seize the opportunity and proceed with the meaningful dialogue beginning upon settlement termination.
Settlement issue is not a pre-condition but rather a reasonable request to facilitate negotiations leading to the diplomacy success.
Two states solution is paramount to both Israel and Palestine for a long lasting relationship extending to other Arab neighbors as seen in Syria’s overture towards Israel at the 65th U.N. General Assembly session in September 2010.
Finally, regarding the two chilling responses from Palestinian Children during the survey on their wish list – “Get out of Gaza or Die,”
NO child in any part of the world should experience the frustration to leave their homeland or desire to end their precious life.
Palestine needs these brave and intelligent architects to build their nation with strong democratic principles vowed to peace, non-violence and solidarity within and outside the territory.
It is important for the Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem to come together as one nation in moving their country forward.
Likewise, setting the differences aside for a new partnership with their Israeli friend and neighbor is equally essential to sustain permanent peace.
It would ensure security, political stability and economic prosperity for the two states permeating to the entire region.
Palestinian liberty and Israeli security means a bright future for their people.
Peace to Palestine, Israel and throughout Middle East.
Thank you.
