U.S. and Allies War and Peace Quagmire – Global Dominance Part II

April 20, 2012

By Padmini Arhant

Afghanistan – The key strategic location has been invaded by prominent powers with occupiers goals defeated despite military might and unparalleled technology against native fighters in the largely mountainous terrain.

Following 9/11the U.S. and NATO invasion of Afghanistan initially premised on war against Al Qaeda – the CIA brainchild to drive former Soviet army from Afghan soil along with then mujahedeen trained and armed by United States that are Taliban forces today seeking closure to foreign occupation after a decade old warfare seemingly fighting the loosing battle.

Another bone of contention is Intrusion in domestic affairs specifically puppet regime installation reporting to Washington and NATO through agreement for permanent base subsequent to the so-called troop withdrawal in 2014.

It is clear that the supposed war on terror for over ten years in Afghanistan having claimed many innocent lives and armed forces on all sides with controversial drone attacks until now in both Islamic nations – Afghanistan and Pakistan justifiably causing furor amongst local residents mostly tribal and rural population surviving at western air power mercy.

The prolonged war in Afghanistan waged against Taliban and fragmented militancy groups has exacerbated Afghans plight.

Notwithstanding U.S. army personnel morale reflected in the series of incidents ranging from Holy Quran burning, desecration of deceased Afghan fighters, U.S. army sergeant shooting spree killing unarmed women, children and men to the latest U.S. military personnel pictures posing with Afghan suicide bombers mutilated body parts…are disturbing signs indicative of troops war fatigue rebelling against protracted military presence having lost purpose and credibility in the misguided mission.

Afghanistan deprived of progress due to continuous foreign intervention is also burdened with systemic corruption,

Western funneled poppy production arming the insurgents and warlords,

Western backed government inefficiency in every aspect attributed to political instability, economic disparity other than civilization frozen in time on social issues such as women’s rights in particular.

A month ago, much to Afghan government’s frustration United States and NATO declared truce with Taliban reportedly head quartered in Qatar.  The short-lived situation was no surprise with both sides defaulting to carnage and destruction.

Upon reviewing Afghan history since 1970’s, mujahedeen evolved into Taliban never engaged in threatening United States and allies national security unlike radicalized networks courtesy Saudi Arabia targeting vulnerable tribal and disenfranchised segments in Pakistan, Yemen and lately behind sectarian violence in Iraq with trail leading to Libya and Syria.

However, then CIA manufactured militancy alias Al Qaeda initially to fight against Soviets has been a convenient tool until date in pursuing global military action to benefit the military industrial complex and globalists agenda  – access to natural resources by force under war on terror pretext and long term strategic gains in the designated regions asserting prowess against those perceived competitors in economic and military power.

Reiterating earlier statement – 9/11 direct links with Israel and Saudi Arabia shared interest for regime change to strike Iraq eliminating former President Saddam Hussein completely ignored launching military attacks in Afghanistan rendering the Central Asian hub and neighboring state Pakistan – fertile ground in testing and exhausting weaponry to boost defense and crude oil stocks,

Besides facilitating widespread violence and terror recruitments in both nations to perpetuate war policy that was never credible from the onset.

Similar actions perpetrated against citizens of Egypt, Yemen, Libya, Bahrain, Syria and Iran to destabilize volatile Middle East to secure indefinite troop deployment and naval fleet obstructing hope for democracy with western leaderships delegated as sales executives to promote arms purchase for defense industry.

Any environment riddled with constant shelling and decimation denying victims glimpse of optimism to emerge and rebuild lives provides immunity to chaos and criminality subjugating demography to internal and external influence.

Afghanistan devoid of foreign military interference and instead assistance towards economic development laying a strong foundation on education with schools across the country, health care facilities and modern infrastructure utilizing labor within society would not only occupy youth with positive productivity but also prevent terror recruitment.

As for training Afghan security personnel to prepare them in national defense – considering imperialism lack of success in Afghanistan evidently Afghan fighters are better equipped and qualified to organize national army.

With corrupt free competent administration succeeding incumbency, disciplined military institution and defense academy could be a no brainer for any nation.

The new government priority in maintaining law and order is largely dependent upon commitment to public safety and unified approach with opposition to commission diligent law enforcement agency.

According to U.S. and NATO public statements on Afghanistan readiness post U.S. withdrawal – the past few years spent in imparting skills to protect civilians and safeguard national territory.

Yet the events in 2012 with U.S. armed forces and Afghan soldier offensive engagement resulting in civilian and army casualties contradictory to U.S. and NATO position on ground reality alongside drone assaults in Northwestern Pakistan extended over to Afghan border confirm otherwise.

In the absence of military accountability including disproportionate Pentagon budget exempt from external audit, the extravagant spending with no checks and balances on wars and military bases deserve thorough review and fund reallocation to vital domestic programs and job creation in the United States.

Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai announcement to step down in 2013 a year ahead of scheduled troop pull out would mean transitional government to govern until early or full term election.

The interim governance headed by leadership with popular votes in 2009 election would guarantee stable governance per people choice.

Complete overhaul of political system and judiciary in democratic setting to curb corruption is paramount to move the nation forward.

Taliban impact on national security could perhaps ease upon offering gainful employment to misled recruits while disarming various factions operating in and around the borders.

Tribal areas urged to lay down their arms with trusting and respected Patriarch conveying the message in different parts of the country would restore peace.

Further addressing grievances in Tribal, rural and urban settlements with result oriented actions would win hearts and minds of the people.

Terminating poppy cultivation and replacement with agriculture especially staple diet could generate self-sufficiency in addition to government land provisions for organic produces allowing farmers to contribute to national exports and GDP.

Mutually beneficial trade investments in Afghanistan by international community substituting foreign military confinement could bring desirable changes in the economy.

Afghanistan neighbors concern over prevalent deteriorating conditions could be alleviated with peaceful transformation from killing to saving lives in unanimous call to expedite end to aggression on all sides consisting arms embargo and restricting ammunition supply responsible for the status quo.

Regional partners surrounding Afghanistan could play an important role through cooperation rather than competition in the establishment of pervasive peace and stability.

Afghanistan could no longer be subjected to bloodshed, drug trafficking, arms trade and above all globalists appointed government exploiting national wealth for self-interest at the vast majority misery.

In conclusion, United States, NATO and coalition comprehensive troop removal, not barring paramilitary, espionage agents, private contractors as mercenaries from Afghan domain is pertinent for Afghanistan sovereignty creating an opportunity to desperately required advancement under republic rule.

U.S, and NATO procrastination would clarify real motives not necessarily in Afghanistan or their favor given the precipitous decline in U.S. troop conduct having reached the breaking point demanding exit from the war zone prior to potential untowardness directed at authority.

Choosing honorable departure prudent than delayed debacle.

Wishing people in Afghanistan a new beginning on the horizon with long lasting peace and prosperity.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

Pakistan – International Peace Conference Bonn, Germany

December 5, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The latest developments in the U.S and Pakistan relation are:

NATO advised to cease activity near Pakistan and Afghanistan border specifically territory inside Pakistan in recognition of sovereignty and,

Significantly United States has begun vacating Shamsi air base in Baluchistan – the location used for drone attacks in Pakistan.

Similar action from United States in exiting other air bases within and around Pakistan would address Pakistan’s legitimate concern towards illegal occupation in a sovereign nation.

Nonetheless, the U.S initiatives in this regard are noteworthy with due acknowledgment to President Barack Obama as well as the U.S and NATO military command in the region.

Meanwhile, the current international peace conference held in Bonn, Germany to review Afghanistan future following U.S. and NATO departure is pivotal for regional stability.

United States invitation to Pakistan for valuable contribution is a unique opportunity to demonstrate Pakistan’s commitment towards peace and accepting responsibility in remaining instrumental to Afghanistan’s progress that would directly benefit Pakistan.

The political turmoil and continuous warfare in Afghanistan pervasively impact the neighboring nations particularly Pakistan forced to deal with containing violence as constant priority due to internal terror and cross border insurgency.

As a result Pakistan investments are diverted to combat zone rather than civilian projects diminishing nation’s prospects to compete effectively in the global economy.

U.S. and NATO troop withdrawal from Central Asia and Indian sub-continent would facilitate peace provided the electoral process is not invalidated with foreign power appointed governments for exclusive interests.

Afghanistan’s struggle begins with rural, tribal and the lower income to middle class in the urban areas vulnerability to political system lacking in credibility.

Although politics and corruption are inseparable in practice,

Afghanistan economic output largely affected from systemic abuse of power at various government levels and bureaucracy thriving on bribery and funds funneled from poppy cultivation.

The culture eroding youth aspirations for nation building ultimately end up serving extreme ideological groups opposed to unscrupulous dysfunctional governance with misplaced loyalty.

Furthermore, the foreign dominance with massive troop deployment with no definitive strategy to leave the nation –

Even though the 2014 time table more likely adapting Iraq situation to remain operative through behind the scenes political maneuver and threats exacerbates the situation for the war fatigued population.

Pakistan sharing the experience in this context is in a position to expedite complete termination of foreign occupation not only in own soil but also beyond Afghan borders spreading into Central Asia.

Unless Pakistan participates in international meeting and engage in dialogue with candor,

The efforts to safeguard sovereignty and avert recurring skirmishes potentially looming into major catastrophe would be futile –

Perhaps leading to regrettable lost moments in diplomacy.

Pakistan leaderships – President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani are urged to set aside the recent rift between Washington and Islamabad.

Instead reciprocate to diplomatic course by participating in Bonn conference for insightful input.

Abstinence from international summit only escalates tension that could be easily avoided to pursue strong economic relationship with participants during session.

Besides the event provides Pakistan to play crucial role in redefining terms on security along with presenting anticipated information on measures adopted to eliminate terror networks undermining military, intelligence and civil society in the country.

It is sincerely hoped that Pakistan would grace the occasion by honoring United States and other attendees’ request to join them in the discussion on Afghanistan and regional matter.

Best Wishes to Pakistan, Afghanistan, United States, India and other members for successful outcome at the Bonn Conference.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

Pakistan – NATO Strike and U.S. Occupation

December 2, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Yet another NATO strike claiming two civilian lives this time after the week end assault resulting in 25 Pakistan soldiers casualties deserves valid explanation from the source responsible for the action worthy of condemnation.

The world’s super power United States led NATO taking pride in sophisticated artillery especially precision technology engaged in mistaken targets or imprecise attacks earlier in Libya and continued in Pakistan as well as Afghanistan exacerbates the growing mistrust in western power presence presumed occupying force’s unnecessary provocation.

Apologizing for mistakes towards incidents involving loss of innocent lives is accepting responsibility with humility and offering condolences to victims’ families highlights individual compassion – the two fine attributes defines basic human nature.

Again the stature is not diminished instead fortified upon extending genuine empathy to heal the wounded relationship considering the critical situation with troop across the border and emboldened hardliners undue advantage in the otherwise amicable crisis management.

Besides the grim oversight in the repeat aggression having escalated tension with standing order from Pakistan military high command to retaliate in response to recurring fire endanger life and regional stability.

Unlike Iran, Pakistan is a nuclear state sharing borders with two other nuclear nations – India and China.

Unless the goal is anything other than establishing peace the dangerous incitement would be catastrophic for the perpetrators underestimating the underlying risks in pre-emptive warfare evolving into nuclear confrontation.

United States rational approach to reduce friction is primarily dependent on softening stance through diplomacy rather than bellicose rhetoric flaring anti-western sentiments in the increasingly volatile relation jeopardizing foreign aid workers, armed personnel and contractors’ safety in Pakistan.

U.S. and NATO operation over the decade in the so-called war on terror has expanded troop deployment, proliferated arms supply and facilitated militancy subjugating Pakistan and Afghanistan including Central Asia as permanent military base alongside rejecting sovereignty of these nations demonstrated in Abbottabad raid declining to present evidence confirming defunct process.

Pakistan decision to redefine terms beginning with U.S. vacating air base is justified predominantly due to bloodshed from incessant violence post 9/11 with no end in sight gaining access to experiment defense industry stockpiles breeding terror and cross border conflicts.

Global power standard practice in corrupting the system with military aid preventing functional democracy in semblance to infiltration in neighboring India promoting controversial nuclear deal and foreign direct investments in retail despite the policies adverse effects on mainstream population and local traders respectively elaborates the definitive objectives for regional colonization.

Insidious techniques for dominance subverting parliament sanctity through loyalists in the military, intelligence and civil institutions compromise statehood and national security.

Throughout the world, the conglomerate rein control over resources and territory for economic and strategic interest instigating discord within society.

The military industrial complex together with oligarchy remains the biggest threat to humanity.

Pakistan review of military and intelligence service in the alliance would be effective provided the elements in the relevant organizational structure contributing to overseas and internal terror networks empowerment are identified and eliminated restoring discipline and honor to national defense.

Most importantly, military and intelligence agency delineation from politics and governance could deter external intrusion reinstating republic rule with political viability to buttress peace and economic growth in the embattled zone.

As for ties renewal with United States – Pakistan and U.S engagement premised on trust, and mutual respect is invaluable for common pursuit i.e. sustainable peace and economic development.

The current political standoff could be ended with U.S. initiative in recognizing Pakistan’s sovereignty exemplified in complete withdrawal from the sub-continent.

Pakistan in exchange could allow transportation of essential goods to troop in Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds and expedite U.S and NATO departure from the region.

Additionally, Pakistan’s commitment to dismantle groups associated with terror plots and antipathy towards perceived rivals is paramount to revive national image and international acknowledgment.

Twenty first century marking supremacy conclusion would free nations struggling for liberty with an opportunity to thrive in the competitive global environment.

With heartfelt condolences to survivors representing deceased soldiers and civilians in the recent tragedy,

Prayers offered for the departed souls to rest in peace and courage to bereaving members in surviving the grievous moment.

Wishing Pakistan a new beginning with peace, progress and prosperity in abundance.

Good Luck! To United States and Pakistan in forging peaceful and strong economic accord for bilateral benefits.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

Pakistan – NATO Air Strike and U.S – Pak Standoff

November 30, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The recent casualties involving 25 Pakistani soldiers from NATO air strike on Saturday, November 26, 2011 near Pakistan and Afghanistan border is deeply regrettable considering the loss of precious lives and,

Simultaneously the upside being, the tragic incident prompting U.S and NATO engagement assessment in northwestern region and Central Asia.

Pakistan designated as terrorism hub in the so-called war on terror justifying persistent U.S. drone attacks and ground activity through Central Intelligence forces –

Deployed as paramilitary escalated in the past two years has claimed many Pakistani civilian and armed forces lives on all sides with no conclusive strategy to end the military aggression and operation altogether.

U.S. led NATO stated agenda is – target militant groups in northwestern area, contain Haqqani and Al Qaeda network and terminate Taliban insurgency in Pakistan as well as Afghanistan.

However, the dismal results confirm the failure in the implementation of decade old warfare.

Alternatively defending the supposed war on terror a successful mission,

Alongside alleging the growing threat from various terror networks in Pakistan –

The proposition for taxpayer funded protracted military affair would be contradictory pre-empting,

The need to recognize the unwinnable paradoxical predicament favoring troops withdrawal and vacating all air bases from the sub-continent.

Similar action across the border in Afghanistan and Central Asia is primordial providing permanent relief to the population and facilitating dawn of peace in the embattled zone.

Pakistan defense committee decision calling for Shamsi air base shut down including other locations is justified and,

The people of Pakistan grievances against eternal turmoil deserve effective action.

The perpetual violence with no exit plan not only voids Pakistan’s sovereignty but also defines the illegal occupation fomenting anti-western sentiments across society.

The military aid to Pakistan could be diverted for economic assistance to rebuild the nation directly helping the people affected by war, internal conflict and natural catastrophe.

As for Pakistan’s terror haven status – the military top command urging foreign force withdrawal is legitimate.

Arguably, the burden remains with Pakistan military and intelligence to pursue sources within and periphery in disarmament by seizing weapons and explosives used in killing Pakistan’s innocent citizens and others outside the nation.

Further more, Pakistan intelligence agency ISI marred for links with terror groups could reverse role in apprehending elements hindering Pakistan’s peace and economic development.

The two important national security authorities – Pakistan military and intelligence bureau commitment to protect national interest prioritizing citizens’ safety from different factions inside the country would eliminate any foreign intervention requirement.

Both institutions confined to respective responsibilities i.e. monitor and manage dismantling of groups tied to terror plots against anyone would restore self-image and international confidence.

Besides overhauling the highest national defense and intelligence organization to remove detrimental allegiance to internal and external influence compromising statehood identity and integrity would revive the two institutions credibility as disciplined honorable establishment.

Pakistan’s status quo could be attributed to trust violation by those entrusted with safeguarding citizens’ welfare and national proprietary allowing prolonged foreign infiltration under the guise of fighting terror subjugating the nation to remotely controlled dominance.

Nonetheless, Pakistan’s current measures are indicative of awakening to reality.

It is prudent to address the increasing fatalities from robot wars experimenting newly developed technologies on the vulnerable population in utter disregard for life.

Pakistan stance to close supply routes in response to the unfortunate event is understandably emotion driven and could perhaps ease the tension on humanitarian grounds to enable the necessary flow of essential goods to troop stationed across the border.

Concurrently, U.S. and NATO reciprocation with complete withdrawal from Pakistan soil would spare Pakistan nationals enduring the spate of air and ground attacks due to U.S. and NATO assertive military policy and arms distribution in the territory.

The relation between U.S and Pakistan could improve with viable economic trade, educational programs, infrastructure investment, scientific research, cultural exchange and mutual respect in sharing relevant security information to save lives in the domestic and international domain.

Evidently war over these years has precipitated bilateral cooperation decline and,

The two nations could strive for peace and diplomacy that would guarantee resolutions to challenges in the present and future.

The stakes are much higher in rejecting peace and the existing stand off exacerbates the delicate balance maintained in resisting retraction from original position particularly for the U.S and NATO alliance.

Given the public reaction in Pakistan, U.S. default in vacating air base and continued military option would approve Pakistan’s sovereign right to defend citizens from proven assault with cross border access denial.

U.S. and NATO winding military activities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia is a litmus test for the world’s super power and modern democracy to deliver peace in the war torn nations ushering in the new era for regional progress and prosperity.

Pakistan and United States resuming peace talks is the preliminary step towards reconciliation and procrastination in this regard would impact human lives with irreversible outcome in the otherwise resolvable international dispute.

Pakistan electorate seeking liberation from violence and occupation could be expressed in unequivocal terms through Parliamentary legislation in unison exemplifying the strength of democracy against overseas power presence.

Communal harmony solidifying national unity is the key to success in achieving the common goal.

Hopefully political discourse premised on rational approach would promote peace over unsustainable conflict with emphasis on U.S. and NATO immediate departure from the region.

Best Wishes to Pakistan for everlasting peace and economic growth.

Good Luck! To Pakistan and United States for renewed peace and economic partnership.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

Afghanistan – Troop Withdrawal for Redeployment

May 22, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The legislation on troop withdrawal from Afghanistan for redeployment per the White House proposal requires clarification with specific details.

Bill sponsored by the Honorable Democrat Senators Barbara Boxer, Kirsten Gillibrand, Richard Durbin and Sherrod Brown seeks the following actions:

The legislation is defined as:

The Safe and Responsible Redeployment of

United States Combat Forces from

Afghanistan Act of 2011

1. States that is U.S. policy to begin the phased redeployment of U.S. combat forces from                     Afghanistan by July 1, 2011.

2.  Requires the President’s administration submit a plan to Congress by July 31, 2011,                           for the phased redeployment of U.S. combat forces from Afghanistan

3.  Requires the plan include a date certain for completion of redeployment.

Reiterating the response provided to Senators Barbara Boxer and Kirsten Gillibrand,

Adopting peace over protracted war is productive in many aspects.  Peace is powerful and constructive from the economic, political and humanitarian standpoint.

It is time to bring our troops home from Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen and around the world.

The legislation layout for redeployment rather than return back home is a grave concern particularly with the immediate and long term military plan to redeploy the exhausted armed forces elsewhere.

Again as mentioned in earlier submission to the request for support – Troop withdrawal is pragmatic and paramount.

However, not for redeployment in other targeted locations.

Troop withdrawal for redeployment is expecting different outcome from same experiments proved detrimental to life and national economy.

Further the strategy has adversely affected the political future for the occupied nations like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq… escalating violence through suicide attacks or sectarian conflicts thereby facilitating prolonged troops presence, may not necessarily in combat position,

Nonetheless remaining in reserve on foreign land leaning towards establishing permanent base as revealed for Iraq with synonymous policy.

Additionally, the unpopular governments appointed in Afghanistan and Iraq against electoral mandate by U.S and NATO has exacerbated national security, non-viable governance emanating from rampant corruption and leaderships perceived as puppet representation of foreign power.

Afghanistan like Iraq is saddled with more than a decade war, government without a clear roadmap for economic growth or political stability in a fragmented society.

U.S. and NATO troop withdrawal in entirety would unequivocally reinstate sovereignty in all occupied territories enabling civilian rule under leaderships pledged to solidarity and secular society.

Unlike the U.S. departure subsequent to former Soviet retraction from Afghanistan abandoning the domestic needs of the population,

It is important this time around to reverse the trend and maximize assistance in nation building beginning with infrastructure, education, health and economic opportunity through trade relationships with the people choice of government committed to promoting agriculture, industrial and robust environment for rapid progress.

United States faced with fiscal crisis and sluggish economy, staggering unemployment and rising inflation simply cannot afford extravagant military missions under the pretext of the so-called war on terror.

Evidently such engagement over a decade in different parts of the world has resulted in bankrupt economy with upcoming debate on raising the debt ceiling alongside spending cuts primarily aimed at the consumer based segments -restraining business sector development.

Transparency on all matter exemplified though action is quintessential to move the nation forward.

Hence the legislation on troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and the U.S. base across the globe for domestic return and not redeployment to another region is highly recommended mindful of the fact that,

The long overdue defense expenditure divestment would save and protect life at home and abroad.

With profound gratitude to the armed forces for their invaluable service and sacrifice to this great nation,

The esteemed Congress is requested to stand united and overwhelmingly approve the monumental legislation to end wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen…and around the world expediting the troop arrival in the United States.

Hopefully the lesson is learned from erroneous decisions leading to harsh reality.

Mistake made once is an error and repeated twice or more – an inevitable failure.

There is an urgent requirement for domestic investments in the United States and the war zones ultimately delivering the desired regional and global peace.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

US Raid Operation and the Alleged Burial of Osama Bin Laden

May 3, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Since the declaration of Osama Bin Laden death, the real issues at stake are yet to be addressed by the White House.

It is extremely important to release the raid operation images revealing the alleged fatality of the terror mastermind Osama Bin Laden claimed to have been witnessed in real time by the United States President and privileged audience i.e. Secretary of State and Defense Secretary along with selective members.

Further, presenting the unedited real time documentary on the raid operation with the terror leader Osama Bin Laden in action and the subsequent alleged death should be a no brainer considering the target’s significance and the worldwide anticipation to view the most wanted terrorist live picture.

Additionally real time visual content on burial of Osama Bin Laden reportedly  6′ 4″ in Height purported to have taken place in a sea rather than the land in violation of ethical and environment protocol also required in order to substantiate the bizarre stated ritual supposedly performed prior to presenting the evidence to the world at large.

Meanwhile assertions on the intelligence diligence despite Pakistan’s complicity to the terror leader residency is yet another debate lacking in credibility due to the CIA operatives deployed in Pakistan under previous and current administration as paramilitary forces and,

The procrastination in tracking down the terror leader’s whereabouts suddenly unfolding in a neighborhood not far from the Capital Islamabad leading to the controversies deserves valid explanation.

Besides United States and NATO presence in Afghanistan and Pakistan over a decade notwithstanding the status as the most sophisticated intelligence as well as the formidable military force on earth –

Inabilities to either locate or apprehend the terror leader reportedly a resident of  ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan (1 hour away from Islamabad) for five years is suggestive of serious intelligence failure and the reluctance to act earlier than the chosen moment in time.

Hence transparency in disclosure with the video footage of the entire activity primarily consisting Osama Bin Laden is essential for public scrutiny.

Not only the American citizens but also the international community would benefit from the candid presentation given the profile of the terror leader Osama Bin Laden and the suffering endured by millions across the globe.

Democracy thrives with accountability enforced from the top bottom in a society.

Thank you.

Libya – Leader Muammar Gaddafii’s Last Opportunity

May 1, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi reportedly lost his family members – sixth son Saif Al-Arab and three grand children in the latest NATO air strike.

Any loss of life is deeply regrettable and condolences are conveyed to the grieving family on the tragedies experienced by them.

However, the Libyan leader since uprising escalated unprecedented violence against own population leading to the status quo.

The shroud of sorrow on the Gaddafi family today were long endured by Libyan people under the leadership’s tyranny and oppression unleashed over four decades especially in recent response to citizens’ peaceful plea for Gaddafi government’s resignation in order to realize real political freedom.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and loyalists remain defiant and unwilling to honor the national will by stepping down from office despite the personal loss proving the individual priority i.e. to cling on to power regardless of massive bloodshed, chaos and destruction causing immense grief all around.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s desperate attempts to extend power under false propositions that were previously not fulfilled and unlikely to happen at present or in the future demonstrates the leadership seizing every available situation to self-advantage.

Such governance having failed to win the citizens’ trust and confidence can never prevail in prolonging power against national and international dissent or poignantly deliver the promise.

Therefore it is important for the leader Muammar Gaddafi and his family to accept reality by quitting from power and prepare to permanently leave Libya not forgetting the consequences of earlier refusal resulting in family deaths largely attributed to the leadership’s presumptuous decisions ignoring population plight.

As for the supporters – Gaddafi family and leadership have no gratitude and bound to be let down sharing similar outcome considering their attitude towards own family displayed in the obstinacy to move forward with the political agenda.

The unwavering loyalty to the violent regime rather than the people would accordingly deliver the end justifying the means.

The security personnel and others backing the regime are urged to pay serious attention to the unfolding events not sparing the offenders’ lives revealing the inescapable fact that violence begets violence and eye for an eye would only make the world go blind.

All those behind the embattled leadership crumbling from the helm to the bottom have no option but to lay down their arms and ammunition for the tide is turned against them.

Underestimating the developments would be naïve and rejecting the inevitable defeat is denial that could only expedite the regime’s expulsion.

Hence allowing wisdom to guide the moral engagement through immediate surrender by renouncing power and presence in the country could perhaps alleviate the regime’s burden on crimes against humanity.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and heir apparent notwithstanding the rest of the government have the unique opportunity to reconcile terms with the people in their acknowledgment of the Gaddafi era coming to conclusion.

It is a non-negotiable and unequivocal demand seeking the regime’s rapid exit from the nation with the accumulated wealth in their possession to be withheld for national investment.

The courageous Libyan people sacrifices will not be in vain with every life lost in the political struggle cherished as the beacon light for an independent and prosperous Libya.

Please do not lose hope with freedom on the horizon.

Best Wishes to the resilient Libyan revolution for a glorious victory in the political liberation.

Thank you

Libyan Victim of Abuse Iman al-Obeidi – Release Requirement from Captivity

March 27, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The horrific crimes against people pleading for democracy is widespread anywhere.

In Middle East as peaceful protesters gain momentum the government violence disproportionately escalating to quell dissent.

Libyan people having endured forty-two years of tyranny are now subject to medieval times brutality known for inhumane practices commonly including captivity in unknown locations.

The young victim from Benghazi – Iman al-Obeidi’s horrendous plight deserves international condemnation and swift action against the perpetrators.

Even in the new millennium, women are deprived of basic rights and often treated as inferior gender denying due respect as well as dignity.

The lack of progress on women’s rights in the society is largely attributed to greater inequality in political representation.

Some political systems have either token member or none at all to address women’s issues.

Whenever a woman is abused, mocked and vilified in the manner witnessed in Iman al-Obeidi’s situation, it brings the worst of human character to surface.

These individuals both men and sadly women taking part in silencing the voice literally by using life threatening means from bread knife to shot gun pointed at the victim and as though that was not enough –

The suffocation method adopted with a bag over Iman al-Obeidi’s face to display their vehement loyalty to a tyrant and the forces behind the despotic leadership only confirms their cowardice and corroded human element devoid of empathy towards fellow being.

Again if these members were to pause and reflect on the fact that committing a crime to appease authority in power does not necessarily guarantee immunity from similar harm to them or their loved ones by the belligerent powers.

Besides a woman being someone’s daughter, sister, spouse and mother ridiculed and her honor violated in public reveals the actual status of women in the offenders’ life with truth being far from reality.

Regardless of the moral principle – ‘Treat others as you want to be treated,’

Women targeted for settling political scores through slander and physical assaults might appear to be vulnerable when to a large extent the deplorable act depicts the deterioration within overwhelmed with irrationality leading to misguided conduct.

Muammar Gaddafi and loyalists too were given birth by a woman not different from the captive Iman al-Obeidi in the entitlement to fairness as the natural right unlike the status granted presumptuously on gender magnanimity or state determined factor in honoring womanhood.

Iman al-Obeidi is innocent and a courageous heroine for coming forward to expose the atrocities under the republic deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi whose capture with arrest warrant ironically not a priority in the international mission.

The heinous crime by the enslaved government workers having lost their self-esteem fail to recognize that Iman al-Obeidi in sharing the excruciating experience with the world proved her integrity and selflessness to protect other women from falling prey to social injustice.

Iman al-Obeidi must be released unconditionally and the violators brought to justice to exemplify the civil society’s non-complacency to abduction, persecution and torture routinely carried out flexing political muscle.

Further, judgment through natural course is imminent for Muammar Gaddafi and league responsible in the dishonor brought upon Libya’s daughter and sister Iman al-Obeidi.

Perhaps those in power with the ability to empower the powerless could heed to brave Libyans like Iman al-Obeidi and others sacrifice in expediting the instant release of Iman al-Obeidi held in the regime’s custody to demonstrate their commitment to human rights.

It is incumbent upon the world powers to respond and rescue the oppressed victim Iman al-Obeidi by demanding the Libyan leadership to free the political hostage kept in violation of international law.

If these events were not convincing to the global leaderships in removing Muammar Gaddafi then economic benefits and political dominance in the region would be the compelling reasons behind such reluctance and inaction.

Hopefully there will be no procrastination in saving the life of Iman al-Obeidi – again the honorable Libyan patriot commended for extraordinary valor exhibited in national interest.

Wishing Iman al-Obeidi peace and speedy recovery from the trauma.

Thank you.

Libyan Revolution Commitment to Liberation

March 7, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Despite Gaddafi backers’ aerial attacks and bombings the revolution is determined to pursue the path to liberation.

The pro-Gaddafi assault against innocent civilians is the trend since the uprising began on February 17, 2011.

Muammar Gaddafi and clan’s persistence to remain in power is challenged with the citizens’ resistance regardless of massive bloodshed in the brutal onslaught to prove defiance.

Although the dictatorship’s cowardly act has caused loss of lives, it cannot deter the repressive regime’s inevitable termination.

Libyan revolutionaries have displayed remarkable fortitude in standing up to the military might and artillery shelling intensified as the Gaddafi rule is decimated in eastern Libya while gaining momentum in the west even though the false propaganda staged to convince the forces behind authoritarianism that they are in control of the situation.

Thousand lies and deceptive tactics cannot stall the imminent demise of the oppressive power having wreaked havoc with no respect for life.

History is testimony to the crumbling empires and belligerence defeated by peace initially discarded as weak and vulnerable only to be discovered otherwise.

Libyan freedom fighters should march forward and escalate the demand for Muammar Gaddafi and associates to quit immediately or face the consequences of public trial in the crimes against humanity.

The loyalists and mercenaries share responsibility in the horrendous killings witnessed throughout the political unrest for their inhumane and immoral conduct.

Every Libyan joining the revolution to oust the autocratic governance would pose a formidable threat to the declining leadership debilitated from inside and externally relying on weaponry to quell dissent.

Nonetheless the brave revolution must maintain high spirits and continue to make progress for the perpetrators are destined to succumb to their violence and diabolical means in the unequivocal victory to people power.

It is utterly important to seize ammunitions from every possible location given the firepower used in the confrontation.

Meanwhile in Benghazi – the transitionary council headed by the former Justice Minister with ex-diplomats and envoys is a commendable preliminary step towards formal government establishment and the international recognition of the interim council would further expedite Muammar Gaddafi expulsion.

In the absence of ‘No Fly Zone’ implementation due to US, NATO and UNSC reluctance in executing the crucial measure – Gaddafi terror is heightened with mounting casualties not to mention the inaction emboldening the despotic leadership.

It is poignant to reminisce the post 9/11 action when the former President George W. Bush posed the question to the international community in seeking coalition.

“”Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.”

Somehow there appears to be no such urgency in the response to humanitarian crisis involving civilian massacre.

Besides the unusually prolonged deliberation at the sacrifice of civilian population is disturbing to say the least and justifies valid explanation in this regard.

The reasons provided thus far to coalesce multilateral consensus as a difficult task does not bode well considering the recent swift decisions on issues such as vetoes in the Jewish settlements or Iranian nuclear threat in the region.

As stated earlier discriminatory policies in political resolution would only discredit the powerful authorities status and ability to be a reliable source in the popular uprising for democratic rule.

Indeed a travesty for any democracy to choose to remain a silent spectator rather than coordinating efforts on the periphery with the victims targeted from air attacks.

Libyan pro-democracy movement is urged to continue the relentless march towards Tripoli and gallantly claim the political rights and individual liberty long denied by the dictatorial power.

Please remember that you drove the evil from eastern Libya and now you can do in the west ultimately conquering the capital, Tripoli.

Nothing can stop you from becoming democratic for the Dark Age is nearing end along with the representatives.

Good Luck! To fellow citizens in Libya for a phenomenal success towards republic rule.

Thank you.

Libyan Revolution Gain Momentum Against Muammar Gaddafi

March 2, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The solidarity movement across Libya along with defectors from the Libyan armed forces should move forward to confiscate the weapons used by Muammar Gaddafi against unarmed civilians.

All those loyalists serving the dictator Muammar Gaddafi must understand that any individual unleashing indiscriminate tyranny on own nationals including the army personnel is not going to spare them.

It is a matter of time those hired by the tyrant Gaddafi would be disposed in the same manner as the brave soldiers gunned down for their valor.

One who takes the sword will fall by the edge of the sword.

Therefore the mercenaries, henchmen, security personnel and all staff members enslaved by Muammar Gaddafi and generation must lay down their ammunitions to join the peaceful revolution in ousting the ruthless totalitarian regime.

You are paid to kill men, women and children tainting your hands with blood so that Gaddafi and family could continue to wreak havoc on your fellow citizens not excluding your family and relatives.

Are you prepared to slay them for the most brutal and selfish authoritarian ruler who has amassed wealth worth $30 billion in disclosed assets not barring the undisclosed value leaving the rest of you in abject poverty?

Ask yourselves – Why should you sacrifice your life and willfully submit to slavery to a puppet leader following orders from powerful sources focused on direct control of Libya’s oil?

You need to rise against the traitor Muammar Gaddafi emboldened by the evil empire with vested interests.

The situation is no different from Egypt when the visibly shaken counterpart Hosni Mubarak was encouraged behind the scenes to remain resilient against the popular uprising despite the then President desperately seeking an exit with the statement –

“I am fed up of being Egypt’s President and I want to quit now.”

Likewise Muammar Gaddafi widely known to be acquaphobic, hypochondriac, manic-depressive…having obeyed on the nuclear program abandonment and Lockerbie settlement somehow not amenable to the Libyan citizens’ unanimous call for dismissal proves the dictator’s misplaced loyalty legitimizing the imminent displacement.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi during the state television broadcast cited the U.S. and European powers’ disapproval of the Libyan revolution demand for Gaddafi resignation.

Subsequently the case presented through U.S. media on Saif al-Islam’s attempt for political change since the heir apparent was the oligarchy preference to lead Libya.

Meanwhile, the dangerous developments contradictory to the humanitarian operation pose the relevant question to the United States and Western powers.

What is the precise strategy behind the U.S. air force and naval ships positioned near Libya?

If the purpose is to intimidate the debilitated leader otherwise portrayed as ‘calm and relaxed’ by the mainstream media, then the United States military exercise could be futile considering –

The U.S legacy in coup d’états in Latin America, Middle East, Asia and Africa vigorously pursued until today.

The latest U.S. interventions in the successful destabilization and removal of the democratically elected governments in Haiti (early 1990 todate), Honduras and Lebanon in 2009 and 2010 without U.S. military involvement serve as examples.

United States, United Nations, NATO and European Union policy with respect to Libya and Middle East restricted to humanitarian relief avoiding military aggression at all levels would clarify the democratic nations’ positive intentions in promoting democracy.

On implementing “No Fly Zone” – certain media anchors and analysts as the political establishment’s representatives in defending the U.S. and allies’ reluctance and procrastination having claimed many innocent lives ignore the fact that there appeared to be no such problems whatsoever during the swift introduction of ‘No Fly Zone’ against Iraq.

United States unilateral decision then had become the unanimous consensus not only in that regard but also in the recent U.S. veto of Arab resolution on Jewish settlements and toppling Lebanon government.

Therefore the notion that United States’ initiative would not suffice in the humanitarian matter is diminishing the U.S. status proved wrong in UNSC resolutions through US vetoes prolonging political crises with no hope for fair and balanced outcome.

Now the U.S. militaristic stance comprising the Libyan air defense base bombing reportedly considered in order to impose the ‘No Fly Zone’ would be belligerent and counterproductive due to the obvious destruction of the national installation especially when peaceful options are available for such engagement.

U.S. and western powers role in Libya, Middle East and around the world would be beneficial as peacemakers and not aggressors exemplified in honoring the local population efforts for democratic reform and the natives ability in nation building.

Libyan revolution must resist and decline any proposals to arm them in the peaceful and non-violent political struggle.

An eye for an eye will only make the nation go blind and the ill-conceived strategy is to instigate civil war with arms supply flourishing into the territory discarding the primary target – i.e. eliminating Muammar Gaddafi and family from power.

Hence it is crucial for the Libyan revolution to be persistent and gain momentum in the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi and the clan.

Please do not relent or heed to violence designed to deter revolution progress.

In the environment debating on political correctness often based on convenience – the reference to pro-democracy seekers as ‘rebels’ by the media in the democratic societies is oxymoron and beckons their attention for appropriate characterization of the dictatorship and the backers as ‘murderers’ and ‘assassins’ depicting the reality.

Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Algeria, Saudi Arabia…and all others oppressed over decades can no longer tolerate injustice and must end the repressive era for a new beginning.

Good Luck! To fellow citizens in Libya, Middle East and around the world for a peaceful political liberation.

Thank you.
