India – New Delhi State Assembly Polls And Political Establishments Opportunism

December 13, 2013

By Padmini Arhant

The recent state assembly elections in New Delhi, India produced unprecedented outcome for ordinary citizens in political history.

Indian political system not without foreign control is stagnant with duopoly – the two major political parties viz. Congress from British India led UPA and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with various coalitions thus far failed to win absolute majority to govern most states and the nation at large.

Both parties and their alliances attracting rich celebrities from the entertainment and economic sector to represent a nation with significant population in abject poverty enduring social inequality yet to demonstrate capability and integrity considering plethora of scandals costing taxpayers horrendously due to massive corruption and dysfunctionality.

Congress Party headed by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi with Ministers P. Chidambaram and counterparts evading accountability on numerous corruption charges suffered severe setbacks in the latest provincial elections across the country.

Similarly BJP identified as fundamentalists behind communal riots proportionately share corruption related political losses predominantly in the southern region.

In Delhi polls, the emergence of common man party known as Aam Admi Party (AAP) – the offshoot from anti-graft movement launched in 2011 under activist leader Anna Hazare defeated the ruling congress party ousting the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit criticized for 2010 New Delhi Common Wealth Games corruption and funds mismanagement.

The AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal and associates performance bewildered BJP and Congress party sowing the seeds for possible political transformation at the local and national level.

Delhi State Assembly with 70 seats currently split among BJP 32, AAP 28, Congress 8 and 2 Independent likely to join BJP in the post election.

In the absence of clear winner to govern the state, New Delhi is faced with possibility of President rule or undesirable partnerships between the leading parties and runner up Congress and alternatively holding re-election for decisive victory.

Although BJP maintains marginal lead over newcomer AAP, the former resigning to opposition position is a political maneuver and AAP teaming up with Congress would be reversal of hard earned achievement for the common man party.

Congress and BJP as the political establishments essentially favor one another and poised to maintain status quo.

BJP political posturing to address corruption and failure to deliver in action while leaving the matter to ruling Congress confronted with public anger and frustration over various issues primarily anti-corruption law i.e. Jan Lokpal bill, inflation and rising violence against women confirm the lack of commitment to national interest.

Besides, BJP refusal to participate in no confidence vote against UPA Congress further proves the dual party agreement to defend each other during crises at national expense denying electorate fair political representation.

BJP success largely attributed to Congress dismal trajectory and hence remains the default option.

The dilemma for Indian voters to choose between the two unpopular parties tainted with evidence based allegations could be overcome in forming and promoting mainstream political party – Jan Kalyan Party (JKP)/ Lok Kalyan Party (LKP), Desh Pragati Party (DPP)  or National Progress Party (NPP) nationwide through citizens financing candidacies possessing verifiable record dedicated to national and humanitarian service.

Among them, unlike conventional practice seeking fame and fortune and subsequently entering politics for power and prestige, the people party representation with selfless unsung heroes and geniuses would delineate them from political class in modern age.

Social activism alone might be effective when elected representatives abide by constitutional oath to serve constituents and nation resisting domestic and foreign incentives and pressure to commit treason and betray citizens’ trust.

Since traditional politics prioritize personal benefits over national future, the youth drive energizing the rest of the nation via Jan Kalyan Party / Lok Kalyan Party, Desh Pragati Party (DPP) or National Progress Party could be the beacon of hope to dispel the myth on contemporary choices showcased with fancy packaging containing obsolete product.

Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha and followers political involvement together enabled India’s independence from foreign rule.

The rift in national group i.e. Shri Anna Hazare loyalists and AAP members pledged to contain corruption and other problems serve none except facilitate exploitation for declining powers seeking opportunity.

Indian mass preparedness and engagement  for revolutionary change in politics transcending dynasty, nepotism and affluence dominance is the preliminary step towards egalitarianism with political and economic freedom.

Wishing people power in India vigor and vitality for republic governance upholding democratic values and righteousness as the foundation in nation building illumining lives with knowledge and exemplary talent.

Jai Bharat!

Peace to India!

Peace to all!

Thank you.

United States – HCR – 107 Congressional Proceeding against Illegal Warfare

July 8, 2012

By Padmini Arhant

Nations built army primarily for two reasons – safeguarding borders and protecting citizens from potential attacks apart from deployment during emergency relief efforts to save lives and involve in peace mission without artillery.

The honorable and courageous service requires personal sacrifice, discipline and discernment at critical hour to engage diligently mindful of serious ramifications often irreversible due to fatality on all sides with civilians being the most vulnerable.

However, in the contemporary era wars are waged exclusively for economic reasons and territorial conquest with troops not necessarily serving the nation nor nationals they pledged to defend instead laying their precious lives in compliance to foreign diktat.

The greed driven strategy focused on individual gains at vast majority peril has no boundary with wars fought without borders unheeding constitutional law, congressional dissent and international rule such as Geneva Convention not excluding military code during combat and POW or prevalently so-called terror suspects treatment while in custody.

Besides, extemporaneous foreign policy invariably leading to military interventions again at external powers behest in the absence of comprehensive structure viz. exit plan, economic costs and above all transparency and accountability with executive branch exercising excess authority from top to bottom.

It is noteworthy that executive branch in the latest configuration beginning with office of Presidency, Secretary of State, Defense Secretary, Director of Intelligence Services CIA, FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation). Homeland Security, NSA (National Security Advisers) and last but not the least Justice Department are granted impunity despite,

Hard core evidences suggestive of abuse of power notwithstanding treason against nation they are either elected or appointed to serve with honesty and integrity.

Accordingly in precluding consequences congressional investigations rendered redundant and a mere formality.

As a result public opinion and legislative authorization no longer considered relevant in decision-making process concerning national interest for they are predominantly directed and influenced by shadow governance like Council on Foreign Relations and Trilateral Commission among key organizations and institutions in control of national as well as international affairs entirely benefitting them.

Major General Smedley Butler – decorated war veteran and author of ‘War is a Racket’ detailed the reality on profiteering from war disregarding losses in death and destruction lasting over generations,

Perpetuated in modern warfare with innovative technology such as drones, short and long range missiles supposedly facilitating remote operations eliminating necessity for troops on the ground alongside discounting disproportionate civilian casualty endured by victims’ families thus far.

The arbitrary shelling fomenting terror recruitments in retaliation is also affecting troop morale demonstrated in regrettable conduct in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

War is not only accompanied by loss of lives but also premised on distortion and deception given the executive privilege and unilateralism in vogue defying constitutional requirement for congressional approval in the declaration of war against sovereign nations in Middle East or anywhere in the world.

Corporate media and news organization both local and foreign used as propaganda tools are equally culpable in misleading people and nation at large.

Congressional action against reckless, irresponsible and biased broadcast and journalism advocating military interference favoring elite groups would deter erroneous consensus among elected officials and electorate on crucial national matter.

In pursuit of ill-fated agenda risking young servicemen and women in harms way along with skyrocketing national debt passed on to American taxpayers denied many essential programs at home,

Funding other nations illicit wars via provocation and subjugation are against United States democratic values and constitutional framework.

The existing unnecessary tension with Iran and Syria posing no threat to United States or citizens yet U.S. incursions in the Persian Gulf,

Economic sanctions on Iran and,

Weapons supply to militias in Syria replicating Libya ignoring implications on the respective population is counterproductive and contradictory to human rights demand placed upon them.

Iran cooperation with international body and adherence to IAEA plus UN mandate deserves recognition allowing peace and diplomacy to produce desirable outcome.

Similarly, Syrian leadership consistent measures in political reform with constitutional amendment and multiparty elections held most recently envisaging more on the way amid defending besieged nation aided by U.S. and allies ammunitions are significant and violence escalation attributed to western and Arab allies hired mercenaries to disrupt peace prospects in the war torn nation.

Not to mention Geneva Agreement enforcing disarmament declined by western allies backed Syrian rebels echoing U.S. Secretary of State insistence on regime change and destabilization.

Syrian mainstream and real opposition reject overseas meddling and denounce western aggression exacerbating ordinary citizens safety and plight.

Ceasefire prevented at all costs with controversial rhetoric and flagrant stance adopted at ad hoc meeting called ‘Friends of Syria’ in Paris headed by U.S. Secretary of State on Syria.

Washington arms assistance promoting Saudi invasion in Bahraini crackdown and likewise disrupting Arab Spring in Yemen, Egypt and Libya reflect memory lapse in U.S. Secretary of State criticism of nations on Syria epitomizing double standards that jeopardize United States credibility as a trustworthy partner in peace treaty.

U.S. administrations regardless of political party affiliations indulgence in wars based on doctrines detrimental to American and global future set precedence for successors with each legacy devoid of moral and ethics declining qualitatively invalidate republic status with self-righteous ideology.

Investigations into 9/11 terrorism imperative with army, intelligence and government synchronized defunct otherwise averted catastrophe that went beyond domestic turbulence over to offshore multilateral expansion enabling belligerence dominant role discarding peace and constructive dialogue in dispute settlements.

War crimes related to 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen by previous Bush-Cheney administration and,

The incumbent power under Obama-Clinton for Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Bahrain and Syria that are publicly known with numerous allegations on activities conducted incognito in secret prisons through renditions and extra judicial executions having become executive prerogative subverting democracy,

Unless terminated with charges and appropriate sentencing barring exceptions dangerously legitimize power misuse removing congress from political system.

The bill to stop illegal warfare – House of Congress Resolution 107 sponsored by U.S. House of Representative – Hon. Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC) is a fundamental step towards restoring American democracy and national image.

Congressman Walter Jones apparently approached former President George W. Bush seeking explanations behind Iraq war and subsequently reported to have introduced –

Constitutional War Powers Resolution in 2007 co-sponsored by Rep. William Delahunt (D-MA) – prohibiting the president from ordering military action without congressional approval, except when the United States or U.S. troops were attacked or when U.S. citizens needed to be evacuated.

Congressman Ron Paul, Rep. Dennis Kucinich and many members of Congress stated to have come forward to co-sponsor HCR – 107.

The important bill to curb wars at citizens and troops expense through vigorous campaigning on Internet and other medium would expedite legislation.

The legislation also empowers Congress to proceed with impeachment upon violation of the Act.

Then remaining lawmakers obligatory to fulfill constitutional oath to work for the people and country unlike the reverse trend.

Abstinence or failure to do so would delineate legislators in their allegiance to political party and globalists wielding power overriding constituents will.

This act is monumental in upholding constitution and congressional ruling correlating main street position in military options dealing with citizens’ life and death in the national and international domain.

With appreciation for patriotism – Rep. Hon. Walter Jones and colleagues initiatives to change course from devastating military adventures by executive authority in the past and present time,

Urging United States citizens to participate in HCR 107 legislation for a new chapter in congressional history restoring republic power.

Please call Tel.# (202) 224-3121 at Capitol Hill Main Switch to reach your Congressional Representative.

Wishing success to peaceful and political resolutions – HCR 107 in curtailing global confrontation.

Please review the brief HCR 107 text and have your representatives cast their vote to conclude incessant wars across the globe for divestments in national economy.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – Political Sea Change on the Horizon

April 6, 2012

By Padmini Arhant

Subsequent to dismal results for Congress in five State assembly elections in March 2012,

The most recent by-elections in southern and western states of India has proven disastrous for the ruling power United Progressive Alliance (UPA II), the Congress Party under Mrs. Sonia Gandhi leadership with other members –

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P.Chidambaram, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Law Minister Salman Khurshid, and MP Veerappa Molly…holding key cabinet positions at the center.

Congress party being incumbent in the state and central government had a stronghold in the southern state – Andhra Pradesh sworn loyalty to Gandhi – Nehru family with guaranteed victory considering the political party representation from AP reportedly was 33 seats exceeding the electorally key state Uttar Pradesh (UP) in northern India.

However, the by-elections outcome reversed the status quo with regional report confirming that Congress party targeted all seven Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and lost all of them by significant margins ranging from 30,000 – 45,000 votes and coastal region performance apparently a colossal failure with some Congress candidates fearing security deposit forfeiture.

Congress led UPA – India’s major political party electoral debacle could be attributed to two major issues confronting the state – secessionism within state territory – Telangana seeking autonomy and rights to self-determination from Andhra Pradesh with decadent feudalism facilitating minority abuse of power over majority.

Congress Party as the State and national authority refusal to address the victims’ plight comprising farmers and marginalized mainstream led to massive protests and state shut down with huge revenue loss that could have been avoided through peaceful settlement by the government.

The second factor being corruption among State Congress members having become nationwide epidemic precipitated political defeat for both national parties – UPA II the current administration and major opposition BJP succumbed to electoral backlash.

Further the central government rejection of strong Jan Lokpal bill i.e. anti-corruption law protecting political class with impunity is the impetus driving electorate to demonstrate ballot power.

Similarly in Maharashtra with Mumbai as the capital and commercial center, Congress setback from municipal to state legislative seats is poignant resonating popular demand for corruption free society governed by real democracy barring nepotism and dynasty allegiance to globalist power.

State elections thus far with Uttar Pradesh up north and Andhra Pradesh down south is a huge disappointment to Congress party especially for present Gandhi family at the center,

The regional parties trouncing them across the nation is indicative of the beginning of the end of dominion republic rule reining control under the guise of democracy.

Transfer of Power rather than surrender of power in 1947 and subsequently in 1949 general rights briefing via constitution erroneously assumed as transformation to republic rule with national sovereignty still remaining under British Crown instead of Indian republic.

India under British Commonwealth of Nations shares the status with counterparts Australia and Canada in this regard.

Congress Party founded by Alan Octavian Hume during colonial era maintains undemocratic laws passed in 1878 until today alongside mute opposition committing sacrilege in temple of democracy – the Parliament.

Specifically the prevalent laws subjugating citizens to sustain authoritarianism somehow escapes Parliament members attention despite unprecedented fasting over ten years and other peaceful protests by civilians in the beleaguered regions of the country.

The Arms Act now known as AFSPAArmed Forces Special Powers Act – the ramifications witnessed in North East and Kashmir Valley under national security pretext judiciously in compliance with globalist policy – governance by guns eliminating peace prospects and constructive dialogue.

Vernacular Press Act passed in the same year 1878 enacting press censorship and crackdown on civilian dissent critical of the government continues with same velocity in the twenty first century evidenced in the civilian death Rajbala at the anti-corruption rally in New Delhi.

Ironically the power granted by the people to the elected officials used against them with excess force, income tax raids, intelligence agencies 24/7 surveillance and denying due process on false allegations… are common political measures to exert authority.

Government and corporate collusion undermining democracy with corruption seeping into army barracks in lucrative deals and contracts is the expansion of globalist agenda aimed at world dominance by discrediting nations through puppet regimes deliberate sabotage of economic progress not to mention the threat to sovereignty emanating from persistent external influence.

The two large political party system in India with the rest disoriented, there is an urgent need to fill the void in the absence of formidable political representation for the people restoring law and order in the political lawlessness extended into other branches of public and private enterprise.

Anti-corruption legislation viz. Jan Lokpal bill, Right to Reject and Right to Recall – the overwhelming requests from electorate will not be promoted by government and other political factions due to conflict of interest and lack of political will.

The alternative to the dilemma is India against corruption i.e. IAC coalescence with substantial membership across the nation forming a political party and contesting elections to give electorate a fair option in the local, state and national elections.

Then IAC could achieve political reform as legislators instead of activists given the political establishment defiance in passing robust Jan Lokpal bill even though corruption is a monumental problem decimating the moral and ethical pillars in society.

The civil society genuine concerns regarding corruption dismissed as intrusion in Parliamentary affairs by political machinery evading investigation and prosecution for treason, embezzlement and violation of constitutional law as well as Parliament sanctity proved in cash for votes in Parliament and during elections to public office.

IAC upon being elected delivering promises post elections in Parliament, State assembly, city and municipality would strengthen democracy with a new chapter defining Indian political future.

Again IAC in solidarity could shape the political landscape starting from local to national heights and lead India in turbulent times in history ending foreign demagoguery and sophistry declining proposals beneficial to nation at large.

Indian electoral mandate in the latest elections clarify republic power in changing political dynamics slighted by elected representatives against the convention not to hurt the source or reverse could happen given voters are the decision makers in a democratic environment.

Proceeding with the trend in forthcoming elections would yield republic empowerment.

India awakening to reality on political accountability legitimized in voters’ discernment is the tip of the iceberg with imminent sea change on the horizon.

Congratulations! To winners in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra on the political victory in by-polls.

Good Luck to India against corruption (IAC) with the new millennium political party pledged to greater good of the people and the nation.

Jai Bharat! Vande Mataram!

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – AFSPA Abolition and State Demilitarization

March 18, 2012

By Padmini Arhant

North Eastern India – Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Assam remain the disenfranchised union of India – the world’s largest (democracy?).

State affairs grossly neglected by elected officials at the local and national level, the frustrated population continuously endures economic, political and above all security problems in the region.

The security threat emanates from none other than AFPSA Armed Forces Special Powers Act implemented in 1958 is inherited from colonial times known as Armed Forces Special Ordinance introduced in 1942.

Since then AFSPA has been abused clarifying proverbial impact of power.

Power corrupts human mind.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

AFSPA Carte blanche status is the root cause of unrest and disorder in the deployed states creating insurgency amongst economically and politically deprived youth rising against armed personnel atrocity never brought to justice in the so-called democracy.

Any society complacent to injustice anywhere is complicit in crimes against humanity,

The political and military tribunal apathy emboldens rank and file with lawlessness becoming law for the legion in civilian environment.

While there are disciplined military regiments admirably defending the nation at every frontier,

The other end of the spectrum involved in dehumanizing activities represents leaderships failure in politics and military hierarchy considering the lack of initiatives to address grievous situation.

Manipur in particular has been the fertile ground for Assam rifles cadre and central forces brutality producing militancy and economic blockade in protest to terror in uniform patrolling the territories with ammunitions and impunity against human rights violation and military code of conduct.

The citizens overwhelming accounts confirm troops primitive behavior leaving a lasting impression those wild characteristics not amenable to civil engagement.

Furthermore, the upheavals delineate combat and Peace Corps approach to political crisis.

Not to mention the State and Central government especially Home Ministry nonchalant demeanor fuels activism in the region.

The incident involving Assam rifles (AR) indiscriminate shooting of 10 villagers – a pregnant woman among them waiting at the bus stop in Malom village near the state capital Imphal airport was the tip of the iceberg in the burgeoning criminality from soldiers gone wry.

Unpunished crime precedential in impropriety evolving into notoriety prevalent from top down is the fundamental flaw in the oversight set up for formality than functionality.

Notwithstanding corruption usurping justice institutionalize power abuse throughout the system with victims and families unable to hold perpetrators accountable for heinous assault on the weak and vulnerable.

Historically revolts are triggered by social and economic inequalities combined with lack of political representation demanding reforms to end disparity.

In Manipur and other North Eastern States, demilitarization is the core issue seeking redress and termination to violence.

The activist Irom Sharmila Chanu has been on indefinite fast for over a decade and surviving on nasal feeding symbolic of pain and suffering experienced by the people in Manipur and elsewhere like Jammu and Kashmir valley with AFSPA presence exacerbating local residents misery.

Militarization has notably brought immense adversities and the policy is denounced for direct intrusion in civil society contributing to continuous discord with state and central government inefficiency in resolving disputes peacefully rather than by use of force.

The precipitous decline in administrative skills predominantly relying on authoritarianism through catalysts like AFSPA is indicative of subjugation at political will.

India following undemocratic strategies analogous to western allies unpopular means to rein control is anathema to national freedom with regional autonomy severely undermined under existential AFSPA aggression.

Although Irom Sharmila’s voice on Manipur citizens behalf is heard ceremonially with coveted awards and cash prize,

The ailing dissenter’s plea is ignored entirely on AFSPA withdrawal from the state and revoking special powers act – arguably the deadly weapon in the hands of unruly contingency substituted for current leaderships response to manufactured conflicts in the beleaguered states up North and North Eastern India.

Ironically, Irom Sharmila was arrested again last week and charged with suicidal attempt by inept state and central government (Congress Party) targeting the peace activist reiterating political decision on AFSPA.

Humanitarian organizations and prestigious institutes in India along with 1.2 billion unified stance to abolish imperialist doctrine – AFSPA and demilitarization would transform dormant democracy into vibrant republic rule with civil liberty for all.

India in pursuit of economic prosperity has forsaken democratic values and vast majority pre-occupation in self-promotion has allowed military and political establishment to claim supremacy threatening sovereignty and statehood denied in ad nauseam mistreatment of indigenous as well as marginalized demography.

International human rights groups and United Nations intense pressure on New Delhi to abrogate AFSPA would exemplify universal application of law.

Additionally freezing individual State and New Delhi leaderships assets in overseas accounts conforming to measures against governments adopting military intervention endangering lives and citizens safety would be effective in restoring normal existence.

Indian electorate demonstrated resolve subsequent to emergency rule in 1975 by Congress government under Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi rejecting autocratic governance sending a strong message through ballots and,

Likewise repeating the process with earlier Lok Sabha elections would perhaps provide an opportunity for a breath of fresh air in corruption contaminated politics.

Meanwhile citizens in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir could consolidate efforts adhering to non-violent and peaceful methods in removing AFSPA with amendment to state constitution and statutory requirement to prosecute armed forces’ unlawful detention, persecution, torture and killing of innocent civilians in the state.

State legislature enactment subjecting unnecessary delay or reluctance in adjudication liable is also essential to eliminate dereliction of duty besides preventing political and military misuse of power.

Indian solidarity triumphed in 1947 and similar milestone could be reached in delivering peace, stability and economic progress to states confined to unconstitutional military occupation under false pretext of national security.

Economic development inversed with political regression is counterproductive diminishing the value in the absence of pervasive growth.

India needs to wake up from deep slumber.

Reviving democracy sworn allegiance to republic instead of foreign empowerment is vital for national sovereignty.

Wishing citizens in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and across India success in endeavors benefitting humanity at large.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – Anti-Corruption Law and No Confidence Vote Motion

December 29, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The UPA derailment of Parliamentary process in the upper house i.e. Rajya Sabha on Jan Lokpal bill following deliberation and opposition parties amendments to strengthen the long awaited anti-corruption legislation is condemnable prompting winter session extension for ruling on monumental national issue concerning 1.2 billion lives.

In the live broadcast of the important legislative discourse,

The UPA ally RJD members at Congress Party Chief behest filibustering the bill passage and,

Subsequently Congress Party Ministers viz. Telecommunication Minister Kapil Sibal abrupt disruption declaring winter session conclusion just prior to ruling on Jan Lokpal confirms UPA trepidation on effective Jan Lokpal to eradicate corruption epidemic originating from political power.

UPA ministers and RJD performance overriding Parliamentary rule and Chair authority in direct violation of Parliamentary procedure are impeachable.

The unprecedented event evolving into chaos beyond reproach undermines national sovereignty.

Evidently UPA resistance towards Jan Lokpal in the past eighteen months claiming innocent life, imprisonment of peaceful and non-violent activists against corruption and last but not the least –

The autocratic imposition of Lokpal bill in Loksabha i.e. the lower house rejecting oppositions and civil society amendment requirements,

Not barring submissions from UPA significant allies – providing life support to remain in power is contradictory to Parliamentary protocol,

Besides exhibiting disdain and utter disregard for electorates’ representation in Parliament.

Parliament sanctity subjected to assault with UPA and RJD leaderships unruly conduct clearly demonstrates the destructive course to prevent Jan Lokpal emergence as the bastion to curtail corruption in the society.

The opposition’ account of Rajya Sabha – the upper house discussion on corruption bill transformed into mayhem solidifies unanimous disappointment and grave concern for Indian democracy.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh slighting the major opposition leader Arun Jaitley’s request to intervene in Parliament session revival for ruling is suggestive of UPA 2 pre-determined position to bury Jan Lokpal bill.

Based on congress led UPA government undemocratic policies since Jan Lokpal inception until now,

The opposition leaders from all parties as democratically elected officials are urged to reconvene Rajya Sabha and stand united in passing formidable Jan Lokpal incorporating civil society proposals and various relevant amendments from different factions in Parliament aimed at strengthening the bill –

Contributing to exemplary moral and ethical institution in Jan Lokpal to curb burgeoning corruption.

UPA government under Congress authority being a minority in Rajya Sabha dictating terms is unconstitutional and,

Instead obligatory to honor the majority approved bill addressing public requirements in totality.

Any procrastination would clarify Congress Party sincerity or the lack thereof in uprooting corruption within and outside political domain.

Failure to cooperate in Parliamentary proceedings for ruling on Jan Lokpal would lead to oppositions’ necessary actions –

Moving forward with amended Jan Lokpal in Rajya Sabha.

Motion for no confidence vote against Congress Party controlled UPA.

Parliamentary inquiry against legislators Sonia Gandhi, P.Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal, Veerappa Molly, Lalu Prasad, MoS Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narayanasamy and affiliates implicated in myriad national scandals.

Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh holding the highest position in administration is constitutionally bound to deliver the pledge defending republic and national interest over internal or external influence.

UPA under Congress Party has lost credibility and integrity to continue in power.

The opportunity for UPA 2 damage control is available in accepting responsibility with humility and abiding by the constitutional law enacting Jan Lokpal bill per Parliamentary propriety.

Hopefully rationality would prevail among Congress Party leaderships to relinquish Jan Lokpal demolition through misguided intrusion in Parliamentary affairs.

The public expectation is on BJP and other oppositions to prove reliability in passing robust Jan Lokpal bill this winter session and restore republic governed democracy.

In anticipation of successful Jan Lokpal legislation, the nation as the largest democracy awaits Parliament resumption to complete voting on revised Jan Lokpal bill in Rajya Sabha.

Jai Bharat!

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – Anti-Corruption Rally

December 27, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Anti-corruption rally began in Mumbai and New Delhi in protest against government introduced corruption bill.

Shri Anna Hazare is on three-day fasting expressing dissent over government Lokpal bill.

Considering the report that Shri Anna Hazare is unwell and prescribed antibiotics for quick recovery,

Shri Anna Hazare is kindly requested to skip fasting and instead observe silence (Maun Vrath) in continuation of commitment towards Jan Lokpal bill.

Shri Anna Hazare’s health and well being is vital in every aspect.

The Gandhian crusade against corruption nationally  empowers the voiceless and defenseless in civil society.

The government Lokpal bill currently passed to protect Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi and Home Minister P. Chidambaram implicated on numerous corruption scandals is worthy of condemnation.

Specifically, the clause defending Members of Parliament right to continue as Cabinet Ministers and lawmakers despite judicial trials against them on corruption charges is an affirmation for the status quo.

Misleading the nation in the direction in defiance of morality and ethics affecting national credibility is a kamikaze action with serious repercussions noted in the latest developments across the Middle East and Italy.

Not to mention the inevitable electoral backlash in the forthcoming state assembly and national election.

The republic version seeks the following legitimate proposals:

Jan Lokpal autonomy rather than government appointed Lokpal committee to prevent conflict of interest.

CBI brought under Jan Lokpal Ambit for investigation and due process to curb corruption across the spectrum.

The current arrangement with incumbents control over CBI is unanimously admitted among ruling and opposition members in Parliament as gross misuse of power.

Citizens charter and lower bureaucracy under Jan Lokpal,

Besides other relevant inclusions related to Prime Minister and corporations laid by IAC for effective anti-corruption law.

Nationwide – State Lokayukta implementation without procrastination would enormously ease the marginalized demography’s painful experience in daily life.

Arriving at general consensus is possible provided members of Parliament regardless of political differences assume responsibility to serve in public and national interest by passing Jan Lokpal bill to eliminate corruption.

Winning elections – the political parties primary goal is not achievable unless the electorate plight is sincerely acknowledged beginning with crippling corruption and basic human needs such as safe drinking water, solar power and other renewable energy sourced electricity, clean environment and repaired roads are delivered to the frustrated vast majority.

India against corruption is corruption victims’ generated movement represented by Shri Anna Hazare and dedicated team members having endured series of litmus tests conducted to deter Jan Lokpal emergence.

The success of Jan Lokpal lies with every citizen in India against corruption – the epidemic eroding national resources and taxpayers hard earned savings held in offshore tax havens and illegal bank accounts.

People tired of prevalent corruption and bribery have a unique opportunity to join Shri Anna Hazare in Mumbai and every corner of the country in enacting strong meaningful Jan Lokpal bill.

Youth in India have a greater responsibility as emerging and future leaders in energizing the nation and accelerate momentum on monumental national legislation.

Although Shri Anna Hazare leadership is focused and determined to prevail,

Citizens’ cooperation and participation is paramount to demonstrate against inherently flawed system upheld by political establishment and elitist allies in the society.

Ending corruption culture espousing bribery on basic to advanced services,

Double standards maintained in transparency and accountability with political class and surrogates granted life impunity from inquiry and judicial proceedings.

Meanwhile average citizens subjected to rigorous and undemocratic scrutiny.

Furthermore, it is important to realize the youth, middle class and lower income bear the tax burden attributed to various scandals costing national exchequer trillions of dollars that essentially belongs to the republic.

Freedom from corruption is a second independent struggle concerning all those affected by fraudulent practice.

Zero tolerance to corruption through peaceful and non-violent assembly urging political leaderships in the ruling and opposition to pass Jan Lokpal bill  is an immediate priority.

The local population dealing with routine corruption cannot afford any delay notwithstanding adverse effects from weak Lokpal bill.

Please rise to the occasion and support Jan Lokpal rally organized by India against corruption under Shri Anna Hazare and team in Mumbai and across the nation.

It is not the time for complacency rather formidable coalescence urgently required to take back India and restore republic governed democracy.

Once again, Shri Anna Hazare switching to Maun Vrath and resuming food intake for health reasons would benefit the honorable leader and the nation at large.

Good Luck to Jan Lokpal legislation becoming the national law!

Peace to all!

Thank you.

United States – Protecting Workers and Women’s Right

October 29, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Citizens across the nation are requested to extend support on two issues:

1. Wisconsin State – Recall Governor Scott Walker

Citizens Grievance Since assuming office Governor Scott Walker has targeted workers, introduced undemocratic Voter ID and dedicated to corporate donors agenda.

Public dissent in the state was witnessed throughout the year and the decisive response is to recall Governor Scott Walker for the remaining years expected to exacerbate the electorate plight.

Wisconsin voters are urged to rally behind the progressive movement engaged in Governor Scott Walker recall.

Please reach out to ‘Progressives United’ in the State of Wisconsin and defend republic rule with democratic values intact.

2. Congressional House Republican Members’ Misplaced Priority

Honorable Republican members pledged ‘Jobs for All’ on the campaign trail in 2010.

While jobs bill impending action, legislation restricting women’s health care passed this month clarifies the regrettable congressional discretion on citizens’ requirements.

There is an urgent need for female members and families to defend women’s right to decision on their health.

Please call your representatives in the U.S. House and Senate to reverse course by protecting Medicare, Medicaid and funding for women’s health.

Your solidarity will guarantee victory against powerful industry backed political leaderships and the erroneous legislation hurting the vast and vulnerable majority.

Life threatening laws undermining equal opportunity deserves mass attention and necessary intervention to establish effective governance.

Good Luck! to Wisconsin electorates in the Governor Recall and the rest of the nation on restoring women’s health.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

United States – Wall Street and Washington Job Action

October 15, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

American families across the nation are hurting from the tough economic times with layoffs, housing market decline, credit crunch and expensive health care costs taking toll on middle class, lower income groups and small businesses all over.

Main Street justified frustration over high unemployment; unlawful foreclosures and unaffordable health care expenses are demonstrated in ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests spreading within and outside the country.

Protestors could peacefully assemble near Capitol Hill and the White House for reminder on the unresolved economic problems and social inequality in the United States and abroad.

As for Washington measures on jobs – the lawmakers failed to pass the jobs bill this week and,

Instead approved free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Peru. respectively for manufacturing jobs at home although,

The legislative success is dependent on the trading partners’ reciprocation i.e. the consumer demand and affordability for American goods.

Meanwhile, U.S. Congress has agreed on payroll tax holiday and unemployment insurance extension that are positive steps with immediate relief for the jobless and those facing retrenchment in the uncertain economic environment.

If both parties in the House and Senate could set aside the political differences for common goals,

Perhaps it would facilitate job growth in private and public sectors essential for economic revival.

Addressing the serious housing crisis with lenders unlawful practices is pertinent for the following reasons:

Improper foreclosures is depriving American homeowners ownership allowing foreign investor frenzy to capitalize on the American plight that needs to be fixed considering,

The mortgage securities as derivatives component are tied to overseas assets.

Furthermore, there are inherent risks involved in such investments due to short-term selling and swap agreements generating volatility in the global market.

Notwithstanding the equity transfer from domestic to offshore holdings embedded in the sovereign wealth funds cause political concerns besides economic turbulence in the globalized economy.

Remedies to these ramifications lies with Congress in easing the burden on home owners through effective strategies such as –

Resurrecting foreclosure moratorium enabling homeowners to renegotiate mortgages with property reevaluation to current market value and,

Payment modification per existing rates would protect American interests in the desperate housing situation.

The home loans revision for families regardless of hierarchy on the verge of losing homes could reverse the trend and boost jobs in the construction industry and service sector.

Any relief thus far is limited to conventional practices with the bulk of the homeowners left at the mercy of lenders’ discretion often premised on short-term gains suppressing the housing market rebound.

While the taxpayer bailouts based on ‘too big to fail’ salvaged the default banking industry despite the illegal sub-prime mortgage activities,

The delinquent homeowners are forced to deal with contrary response ranging from aggressive evictions to unreasonable payment options.

The banks were rescued unconditionally and the financial institutions in return have not only restrained money supply prolonging the credit crunch but also denied majority homeowners refinancing opportunity and small business entrepreneurs capital infusion.

Wall Street with substantial cash reserves could create and retain employment rather than preparing to slash 10,000 finance jobs in the coming months that would exacerbate the dire economy.

Corporations’ role confined to economic development with disengagement from political governance through lobbyists would promote government functionality and efficacy in legislative matter.

Companies incentivized with Bush tax cuts extension have failed to deliver the anticipated job growth and expansion only to be substituted by job reduction and/or exports contributing to national debt and trade deficit.

Repealing Bush tax cuts and redirecting financial resources to organizations committed to domestic jobs would enhance free market performance.

Micro-credits is yet another avenue to empower business proprietorship and alleviate economic pain from unemployment status.

Communities with alarming jobless rate could potentially utilize micro-credit facility for self-employment and niche market.

United States is endowed with skilled work force, ingenuity and innovative talent leading in sophisticated technology and other global achievements that revolutionized urban lifestyle.

U.S. workers productivity resulted in economic boom worldwide supporting developing economies to advance at a phenomenal pace.

There is an urgent requirement to turn U.S. economy around with Corporations assuming primary responsibility in providing jobs, liquidity and restoring homes for American families.

U.S. economic recovery is paramount for Wall Street and Washington.

Corporations cannot exist without workers and politics would desist in the absence of electorate.

Citizens’ grievances are real and legitimate – the economic issues cannot be resolved without political will and corporate investments in domestic economy.

Government and Corporations expediting job oriented economic surge is the universal expectation with millions of lives in jeopardy.

Corporate and Political leaderships are urged to prioritize American jobs, housing, health and business prospects over personal aspirations and partisanship.

Global recession could be contained upon U.S. economic progress.

Action and not procrastination would guarantee the desirable outcome.

Hopefully rationality would prevail in arriving at consensus on economic solutions.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – Jan Lokpal Bill Government Response

August 23, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The latest development on political stalemate between the government and civil society leader Shri Anna Hazare is encouraging in terms of Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh’s letter enquiring the civil society leader’s health and request to end his fast on the 8th consecutive day.

Additionally, government overtures to civil society for discussion on Jan Lokpal bill through interlocutors and,

Likewise referring the civil society bill to government appointed Parliament Standing Committee on Lokopal with the Chairman being the administration’s key spokesperson and Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi poses conflict of interest,

Besides repeating the process to delay the anticipated outcome.

Although the government gesture to resume talks is welcome, the purpose behind the efforts is clearly not leading towards civil society’s goals i.e. Jan Lokpal legislation in Parliament.

Instead the government’s calculated strategy spins the people’s plea for Jan Lokpal bill subjecting the landmark legislation to bureaucratic rigmarole at Congress members’ discretions in the capacity as Speaker and Lokpal Standing Committee Chairman without any guarantee for approval.

Such innovative tactics to reject Jan Lokpal bill only confirms the government opposition rather than reconciliation in the standoff with the nation.

It would be honorable and incumbent upon the government to extend identical treatment to citizens’ initiated Jan Lokpal bill as the Food bill and Communal Violence drafts from National Advisory Council by Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi received with ruling power’s overwhelming endorsement in Parliament.

Upon non-discriminatory and non-partisan decisions on national issues benefitting people and country they are elected to serve during their term in office,

The much-touted Parliamentary functionality as the legislative body would be legitimized in upholding republic rule.

As stated earlier, Jan Lokpal bill has been under scrutiny for several decades with no intention from political parties to legislate anti-corruption affecting the entire society.

The immediate action for effective results would be to withdraw government introduced Lokpal bill considering the weak version protecting the offenders than preventing corruption not to mention the inevitable defeat from the opposition coalition.

The government is required to present Jan Lokpal bill in Parliament in the same manner as NAC drafts were accepted and expedited with no modifications on the national interest premise.

Any political maneuvers to subvert the robust proposals against corruption would confirm the political party and the member’s determination to prolong status quo at national detriment eluding public and media investigation.

On the contrary, the government and oppositions’ sincere commitment to address corruption in the society would be evident when Jan Lokpal bill is passed with no loopholes or privileges from top bottom in public and private sector.

Essentially the burden squarely upon elected officials on the electorate watch to acknowledge the core democratic principle otherwise the statutory declaration  –

No one is above the law in real democracy.

It is crucial for government to move beyond agreement to exemplify through Jan Lokpal legislation with a strong provision for transparency and accountability tied to consequences in similar manner applicable to average citizens in the society.

Shri Anna Hazare entering into 9th consecutive day fasting is yet another responsibility for the Parliament members more focused on blocking the civil society backed legislation against corruption.

Moreover with rising sentiments and diminishing public patience on the lawmakers’ deliberation to pass Jan Lokpal bill,

The government and oppositions having wasted valuable time and resources no longer at luxury to squander political capital earned from the electorates ballots in a democratic system.

Shri Anna Hazare’s health and survival rests on the Parliament members’ political will to accelerate Jan Lokpal bill with a unique opportunity to alleviate citizens plight from corruption.

Indian mass is looking forward to Jan Lokpal bill swift passage by government and oppositions this week before Parliament session conclusion in semblance to their response to NAC authorized legislations.

Meanwhile Indian patriots solidarity is paramount to succeed in the crusade against corruption, nepotism and cronyism.

With prayers for Shri Anna Hazare’s well being,

People power must ensure Jan Lokpal bill becomes the law of the land today for a brighter tomorrow.

Jai Hind!

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – Jan Lokpal bill and Political Stalemate

August 22, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Civil Society leader Shri Anna Hazare continues his fasting for the 7th consecutive day while the ruling and opposition parties fail to honor the constitution that upholds the republic will.

Constitution with “We the People” declaration prioritizes people above all branches of governance in a functioning democracy.

Jan Lokpal bill emphasis on corruption and appropriate actions against the corrupt are the contentious issues for political power in Parliament considering both ruling Congress and BJP along with others are implicated with numerous scandals and charges at state and national level.

The questions regarding Jan Lokpal bill whether it would pass in both houses of Parliament and the argument based on various proposals in the bill to curb corruption is simply a rebuttal from the political side to delay and eventually eliminate Lokpal bill discussion from public domain.

Seeking legislation on Jan Lokpal bill that would effectively address criminality surrounding corruption in the society beginning with political system is thwarted especially when the lawmakers responsible for corruption are required to pass the bill subjecting them to transparency and accountability.

The skepticisms on Jan Lokpal bill approval in the Parliament directed at content viability are diversion from the real factors i.e.

Parliament members’ concerted attempts to block the unbiased and meaningful anti-corruption law in the country.

The ruling members against Jan Lokpal bill and opposition parties not entirely backing the anti-graft unequivocally favor the status quo allowing gross abuse of power granting them impunity on corruption and unlawful activities directly affecting national progress.

The incumbent finance minister demand on civil society to abide by the constitution is double standards alongside the current administration arresting Shri Anna Hazare prior to peaceful assembly on August 16, 2011.

Furthermore the government position on Jan Lokpal bill rejecting republic will under false pretexts such as Parliamentary procedures, respect for constitution and democratic institutions…is contradictory to their own actions thus far.

The legislators ignore the fact that without republic there would be no constitution, Parliament, democratic institutions and last but not the least Parliamentarians viz. elected officials in a democracy.

Constitution protects people first and foremost as citizens and electorates with guaranteed rights to freedom of expression not excluding basis to laws concerning public and national interest.

UPA government throughout anti-corruption rallies previously by the Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev in June 2011 and lately with Shri Anna Hazare has violated citizens’ constitutional rights time and time again.

The government misuse of the constitution to suit their convenience is transgression in a democratic system.

Civil society non-violent approach mischaracterized as anarchy when the government extreme measures and relentless tactics to bar Jan Lokpal bill is anything but democracy.

Corruption is protected as the rule of law in the political inaction on all sides with hypocrisy maintained in the defense.

It is poignant to highlight Congress role on similar issues with opposite response leading towards political reasons behind discriminatory decisions.

National Advisory Council headed by Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi drafts on FOOD Bill and Communal Violence is reportedly expedited by the government without modifications and,

Concurrently Shri Anna Hazare’s Jan Lokpal bill benefitting all – the poor and middle class in particular is challenged with undemocratic strategies like arrests and aggression,

Besides refusal to introduce the bill in Parliament for consideration confirms the misplaced loyalty in the post Independent India.

Comparing the two scenarios – Food bill and targeting communal violence brings relief to economic and social victims, at the same time adding political mileage to the party.

On the contrary, political parties facing charges view Jan Lokpal bill as a major threat to the privileges viz. exemption from inquiry or investigations with no consequences.

If legislations are passed selectively for specific political agenda, it does not correlate with the assertion on Parliament sanctity applied to Jan Lokpal bill.

Evaluating each bill on individual merit is relevant.

However, Jan Lokpal is a lifesaver with the opportunity to recover and retain national wealth for domestic investments.

Black money is widely in circulation through bribes and restricting illegal money supply is required under Jan Lokpal bill.

Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh, BJP leaders along with other opposition members are undertaking tremendous risk in continuing with the impasse between civil society led by Shri Anna Hazare and them.

Shri Anna Hazare’s fast ending immediately is paramount to salvage the nation and political leaderships from dealing with monumental crisis possibly endangering national security.

With respect to Jan Lokpal bill examination and debate, the Parliament members are reminded that Jan Lokpal bill has been under scrutiny for over six decades and procrastination reflects all political parties unanimity to prolong corruption as religion in the society.

It is imperative for civil society to seriously engage in forming Lokpal party to compete in national and state elections.  This is the only path to liberate India from political oppression experienced in the twenty first century.

The Congress Party and opposition alike are requested for the last time to acknowledge nearly 98% of 1.2 billion population endorsement of Jan Lokpal bill overwhelmingly overriding the 500 Parliament members resistance and conclude the political stalemate momentarily.

Failure in this regard would determine the political system in India synonymous to the governance in Middle East or pre World War era.  The political rule disguised as democracy in name only is betrayal of republic trust,

Hence legislating Jan Lokpal bill is no longer an option but a necessity to move the nation forward sharing prosperity among all citizens rather than exclusive distribution to the top 1% evidently hoarding money in Swiss bank accounts from embezzlements, tax evasions and innovative sources.

Citizens’ participation to succeed in Jan Lokpal bill legislation is outstanding and keeping up the momentum is equally essential so that Shri Anna Hazare could stop fasting from today.

The government and political oppositions bear the burden to legislate Jan Lokpal bill instantaneously proving their allegiance to the people and the nation they were elected to serve during the term in office.

Yes instantaneously due to the alarming loss of life and national resources wasted in the 64 years since freedom.

Vande Mataram! Jai Hind!

Peace to all!

Thank you.
