Pakistan – NATO Strike and U.S. Occupation

December 2, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Yet another NATO strike claiming two civilian lives this time after the week end assault resulting in 25 Pakistan soldiers casualties deserves valid explanation from the source responsible for the action worthy of condemnation.

The world’s super power United States led NATO taking pride in sophisticated artillery especially precision technology engaged in mistaken targets or imprecise attacks earlier in Libya and continued in Pakistan as well as Afghanistan exacerbates the growing mistrust in western power presence presumed occupying force’s unnecessary provocation.

Apologizing for mistakes towards incidents involving loss of innocent lives is accepting responsibility with humility and offering condolences to victims’ families highlights individual compassion – the two fine attributes defines basic human nature.

Again the stature is not diminished instead fortified upon extending genuine empathy to heal the wounded relationship considering the critical situation with troop across the border and emboldened hardliners undue advantage in the otherwise amicable crisis management.

Besides the grim oversight in the repeat aggression having escalated tension with standing order from Pakistan military high command to retaliate in response to recurring fire endanger life and regional stability.

Unlike Iran, Pakistan is a nuclear state sharing borders with two other nuclear nations – India and China.

Unless the goal is anything other than establishing peace the dangerous incitement would be catastrophic for the perpetrators underestimating the underlying risks in pre-emptive warfare evolving into nuclear confrontation.

United States rational approach to reduce friction is primarily dependent on softening stance through diplomacy rather than bellicose rhetoric flaring anti-western sentiments in the increasingly volatile relation jeopardizing foreign aid workers, armed personnel and contractors’ safety in Pakistan.

U.S. and NATO operation over the decade in the so-called war on terror has expanded troop deployment, proliferated arms supply and facilitated militancy subjugating Pakistan and Afghanistan including Central Asia as permanent military base alongside rejecting sovereignty of these nations demonstrated in Abbottabad raid declining to present evidence confirming defunct process.

Pakistan decision to redefine terms beginning with U.S. vacating air base is justified predominantly due to bloodshed from incessant violence post 9/11 with no end in sight gaining access to experiment defense industry stockpiles breeding terror and cross border conflicts.

Global power standard practice in corrupting the system with military aid preventing functional democracy in semblance to infiltration in neighboring India promoting controversial nuclear deal and foreign direct investments in retail despite the policies adverse effects on mainstream population and local traders respectively elaborates the definitive objectives for regional colonization.

Insidious techniques for dominance subverting parliament sanctity through loyalists in the military, intelligence and civil institutions compromise statehood and national security.

Throughout the world, the conglomerate rein control over resources and territory for economic and strategic interest instigating discord within society.

The military industrial complex together with oligarchy remains the biggest threat to humanity.

Pakistan review of military and intelligence service in the alliance would be effective provided the elements in the relevant organizational structure contributing to overseas and internal terror networks empowerment are identified and eliminated restoring discipline and honor to national defense.

Most importantly, military and intelligence agency delineation from politics and governance could deter external intrusion reinstating republic rule with political viability to buttress peace and economic growth in the embattled zone.

As for ties renewal with United States – Pakistan and U.S engagement premised on trust, and mutual respect is invaluable for common pursuit i.e. sustainable peace and economic development.

The current political standoff could be ended with U.S. initiative in recognizing Pakistan’s sovereignty exemplified in complete withdrawal from the sub-continent.

Pakistan in exchange could allow transportation of essential goods to troop in Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds and expedite U.S and NATO departure from the region.

Additionally, Pakistan’s commitment to dismantle groups associated with terror plots and antipathy towards perceived rivals is paramount to revive national image and international acknowledgment.

Twenty first century marking supremacy conclusion would free nations struggling for liberty with an opportunity to thrive in the competitive global environment.

With heartfelt condolences to survivors representing deceased soldiers and civilians in the recent tragedy,

Prayers offered for the departed souls to rest in peace and courage to bereaving members in surviving the grievous moment.

Wishing Pakistan a new beginning with peace, progress and prosperity in abundance.

Good Luck! To United States and Pakistan in forging peaceful and strong economic accord for bilateral benefits.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

Global Reality Check – Power, Pride and Prejudice

November 19, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Humanity plight is largely attributed to shadow governance wielding power over politics, economics, religion, and social justice.

The military prowess and nuclear status is predominant threatening force subjugating nations to prioritize defense spending against citizens’ needs and nation building.

Any pre-emptive wars and preparation to strike targeted adversaries would be self-destructive with serious repercussions for eager participants in the world carnage.

Mideast naval fleet in the territory along with troop deployment from Iraq diverted to other closer borders viz. Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and UAE boosting pre-existing military presence is kamikaze operation doomed for failure.

The false propaganda to wage war at irreversible loss of precious lives and scarce economic resources after major debacles in Iraq and Afghanistan is yet another wake up call for citizens around the world to demand the end of illegal warfare and foreign occupation with troop return from the global base.

Current posturing in the Middle East and Asia Pacific to disrupt emerging freedom and economic growth plunging the region into chaos and catastrophe is detrimental to the source underestimating dire consequences beyond salvation.

Indian sub-continent – Pakistan in particular ever remaining the terror haven is convenient for defense industry considering the arms race to the nuclear neighbors incited against each other as nuclear rivals for strategic control.

Amazingly the worlds’ super power boasting sophisticated artillery and military together with NATO fighting the presumed war on terror previously against self-founded Al Qaeda and,

Presently Haqqani network – US State department admittedly having held meeting with them but somehow unable to terminate terrorism from the group consisting barely hundred renegades confirms the military industrial complex real mission – profitability through eternal violence claiming innocent lives all around.

Meanwhile nuclear armament in India at the White House behest prompting the subservient government in New Delhi sworn allegiance to global conglomerate in rejecting citizens’ dissent on nuclear proliferation under nuclear power pretext compounds volatility to the fragile regional relations.

Again utilizing certain disloyal and unscrupulous local elements in society,

The nexus influence on all matter especially economics, politics, nuclear and media is prominent undermining sovereignty,

To capitalize on globalization premised on collective productivity and selective income distribution – depriving the vast majority decent living standard reflecting the global power designated ‘third world’ category.

Furthermore, from Asia Pacific, Down under  – Australia is the chief exporter of fossil fuel viz. coal to China.

With Labor leadership recent declaration to lift ban on uranium shipment to India amid compliance to U.S led military aggression in every frontier details the anti-environment and anti-peace adaptation to appease the apex authority.

Africa and Latin America marred with civil wars, drug wars and political instability due to U.S and foreign intervention via coup d’état as well as arms supply suppress the respective continents’ ability to overcome challenges exacerbated in corporate driven globalization for exclusive interests.

Island nations regardless of size and economic output plea to the powerful players on global warming – averting cataclysmic 2 degree Centigrade temperature rise by Kyoto Treaty ratification and COP16 implementation is unheeded with resistance from energy industry backed political leaderships representing key polluting states.

Europe grappling with contagion factor on solvency is determined to impose drastic cuts in vital programs – education, health, retirement and housing…hurting the youth, working families and senior citizens – the vulnerable in the society.

Contrarily no tax reform in taxing the super rich or,

Closing financial institutions that allow legal deposits of illegal funds from tax evasions, national treasury embezzlement such as kickbacks on government contracts, corruption deals, arms sales, extortion, human trafficking and narcotic trade…

Comprising varied remittances draining the originating country’s financial capacity with no accountability and transparency to uphold justice in a functional democracy –

None are above the law.

The investigation formality stops at expendable members while real beneficiaries under privileged status granted impunity from treason and significant crimes compromising national image, wealth  and credibility.

United States – Treading on Europe’s path experiencing rising national debt at $14.6 trillion with,

No agreement on balanced budget, jobs bill, infra structure improvement to spur growth and,

Free trade instead of fair trade practice declined by the people in the partner nations viz. South Korea, Colombia and Panama.

Clean Energy Obstructionism – Congressional examination of Solyndra insolvency involving the White House with taxpayer dollar investment $528 million in solar energy company is legitimate for fact finding purpose and future guidelines.

Solyndra with inherent deficiencies from inception receiving federal funding to a tune of half billion dollars creates a perception – eluding to discredit renewable energy options counteracted by none other than big oil companies generously financing both political party candidates throughout congressional and Presidential race.

Likewise the exercise conducted on taxpayer dollars squandered in illegal invasion and occupation of foreign land specifically Iraq benefitting Halliburton and then subsidiary KBR Inc.( Kellog, Brown and Root) would eliminate partisan politics stigma in truth exploration and justification on taxpayer fund investments.

On the warfront – Troop withdrawal from Iraq would be genuine upon troops returning back to United States and not deployed on Iraq’s periphery or around Persian Gulf prevalent in the growing tension against Iran.

U.S and Allies double standards: Arab Spring effect in the Middle East is addressed differently and entirely dependent on political ties with U.S. and favored ally – Israel.

Syrian violent crackdown is reprehensible and assault on unarmed civilians with firearms seemingly a pattern among autocratic regimes ignoring the equally devastating conclusion witnessed particularly in Egypt and Libya.

The situation in Syria could be prevented from becoming Libya in terms of civil war had there not been arms delivery to dictatorial governments from democratic nations.

Military hardware disarmament through diplomatic channel viz. Arab League and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) rigorous actions against leadership Bashar al-Assad and loyalists unlike U.S. and NATO dismantling in Libya would save many lives and contain violence.

There has been many hearings on Syria at the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington D.C.

However, same response and committee sessions are missing for other nations in the Middle East beginning with Palestinian statehood at the UN like Israeli state establishment in 1947.

Saudi army attacks against Bahrain citizens after former Defense Secretary Robert Gates visit to the Gulf State,

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh approved merciless shooting of citizens in the non-violent dissent.

Egypt’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces pledged to hold elections early November 2011 for civilian rule.

Instead Egyptian authorities brutality against dissenters in Tahrir Square and clashes with Coptic Christians followed by the latest row with Islamists is the trend repeating Mubarak era and could perhaps exit the same way.

Kuwait citizens have joined the Arab revolution with the discord in Kuwaiti Parliament and the stakes are much higher given,

The Al Sabah dynasty strong military alliance with United States represented by 25,000 U.S troops and more relocated from Iraq in the so-called troop withdrawal.

Saudi Arabia and Jordan as the western partners escape media attention and political leaderships scrutiny on the relevant political sea change in order.

Nuclear wise reiterating the earlier facts – The western powers vying to supply uranium to India and concurrent condemnation of Iran’s nuclear program is contradictory generating nuclear competitiveness and non-proliferation default in the expansive nuclear power aspiration.

Attempts or the lack thereof to resolve manufactured crises from economy to environment is losing authenticity with people frustration demonstrated in peaceful protests like Occupy all over.’

The bipartisan Super Committee proposals on deficit control are more directed at Medicare, Medicaid and Social security – the American family lifeline.

Divestments from Pentagon unaudited expenditure and extravagant military ambitions drowning the U.S. and global economies in debts could aid economic stimulus through job creation and investments to broaden prospects in education, research, health and clean energy pursuits for healthy environment.

Occupy protesters were evacuated from zuccoti park during the week on community hazard basis and elsewhere the approach was aimed at crowd dispersal to discourage constitutional right for peaceful assembly.

Nonetheless, the Occupy movement is resilient in exhibiting strength from coast to coast devoid of media coverage.

The 99% bearing the brunt of 1% blunders in economic, political, social and environmental policies at home and globally is one voice unified in bringing about the long overdue change –

Republic governed democratic system principled in fairness and equality for all.

Greed motivated global dominance showing no respect for life anywhere is the root cause of humanity suffering.

Mighty, powerful and the privileged are exempt from tax and judicial probe on general to monumental crimes that is otherwise enforced upon ordinary citizens with inhumane and extraordinary conditions.

Judicial inquiry and investigative process effectively transformed into political gimmicks with guilty either set free or shielded from public exposure.

Selective corporate media and communication outlets in cohort with politics obsessed with truth subversion, perversion, and profanity in certain segments deteriorating in moral and ethical standards – the fundamentals of civilized society.

Not to mention the deviation from substance and solutions for global problems ascribed to flawed strategies and presumptuous decisions ignoring grievous outcome.

Peace and diplomacy discarded for war and belligerence to promote misguided agenda at life and planet peril.

The status quo dictated by few is unsustainable and arguably engaged in losing battle against worldwide people power.

Mass consciousness dedicated to peace and non-violence could gain momentum expediting inevitable change and turning hope into reality for seven billion –

Seeking political freedom, economic progress, social equality and environment protection.

Humility is the virtuous trail leading to profound values that enrich human character for inner peace and happiness.

Inaction and tolerance to injustice make the powerful become powerless reversing the course in human development.

Individuals possess the power to produce positive results in life.

Will power without compromising honesty and integrity to succeed against all odds would enable reaching the mountain peak.

The vibrant youth energy in every society is resourceful and could be optimally used in self and national empowerment committed to saving habitat and humanity.

On that optimistic note – Wishing Good Luck and Best Wishes to Global movement in solidarity for peace, liberty and prosperity for all.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

India – Tamil Nadu Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant Standoff

November 11, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Nuclear power plant Koodankulam in Tirunelveli district of southern state Tamil Nadu, India is currently faced with confrontation between people and government.

Local residents comprising fishermen and other traders along with families living near the site do not approve the nuclear power station and were opposed to the project since inception.

Thorough review of both positions including nuclear technology repercussions could perhaps shed light on core issues with viable alternatives concluding 25 years old citizens’ protest against nuclear option.

In the People v. Government nuclear standoff,

The population concern is largely related to –

Nuclear waste management,

Reservoir contamination,

Radiation exposure,

Nuclear plant design and operational expertise especially during emergency shutdown,

Government preparedness to deal with nuclear accidents such as –

Nuclear reactor malfunction in Chernobyl, Ukraine (Former USSR) in 1986

Fukushima Daichi disaster, Japan in March 2011

Upon investigation in June 2011, radioactive tritium leaks detected in nearly three quarters of all nuclear plants in the United States.

Close observation show more than half of them have concentration level beyond federal drinking water limit although main distribution source not yet affected with the exception of leaks in three plants having contaminated nearby drinking wells for home supply.

Nuclear waste processing plant explosion at Marcoule in Chusclan France on September 12, 2011 with one fatality and four workers severely injured.

Ammonia leaks from San Onofre Power Plant in Southern California, USA on November 1, 2011.

Public grievances are factual and legitimate considering industrialized nations’ experiences with nuclear power plant mishaps and systemic failure.

Despite stringent control and mechanism in place to address predictable and untoward circumstances, the developed nations are unable to guarantee risk free functionality.

Further, citizens’ conviction on industrial accidents is also attributed to government and private sector ineptness combined with apathy witnessed in Union Carbide gas leaks in Bhopal, India and,

The Gulf Coast BP oil spill in the United States last year – resulting in deaths and destruction of life leaving victims mere collateral damages in the worst disasters due to human negligence.

Meanwhile European nations – Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Switzerland are renouncing nuclear power and shutting down reactors entirely for a safer, cleaner and healthier environment.

Indian government stance on Koodankulam is a matter of huge investment estimated at US $3 billion (Rs. 13,615 Crores) with total production capacity 2GW electric power becoming the largest nuclear power complex in the nation allowing additional capability for 2 more reactors over ten years.

The bilateral agreements with Russia for third generation reactors and United States to import advanced uranium is another factor in government resistance to citizens’ request on nuclear projects termination.

Government moving forward through powerful advocates to support nuclear power plants nationwide without heeding citizens’ thoughts is exacerbating the contentious debate.

Apart from Koodankulam,

The other sites – Kalpakkam, Jaitapur, Kaiga, Rawatbhata, Kakrapar are planned for this purpose with some in existence and others under construction.

The government emissaries as experts in the nuclear field presenting qualified opinion strictly related to plant safety features only address the limited technical aspects of the vast nuclear issue.

Nuclear concept in the contemporary era is burgeoning security threat to mankind and environment at large proliferating nuclear status under nuclear power pretext regardless of abundant energy availability.

Besides, prevalent discord in honoring NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) specifically by nuclear states viz. United States, Israel, India and Pakistan – the prominent non- NPT members with targeted adversaries and maintaining fragile neighbor relations respectively create impediments for universal treaty on nuclear disarmament.

United States in an effort to avert proliferation contrarily facilitate nuclear arsenal possession in the U.S. – NATO nuclear weapons sharing policy through deployment of U.S. manufactured nuclear weapons in NATO states – Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and Turkey.

The consignment dispatch and storage is in clear violation of NPT Article 1 and II eliminating impetus for nuclear and non-nuclear members cooperation.

Recognition and acknowledgment of individual responsibility is imperative to absolve the world of nuclear menace – the premise for protracted warfare at irreversible loss of human lives.

Notwithstanding financial burden in waging wars on trillion dollars deficit budget i.e. borrowed money escalating debts and economy to the brink of collapse.

Last but not the least endangering planet sustenance – the only habitat for life.

Shifting focus to solutions on India and global energy demand – the concerted action to harness renewable energy – solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, biofuel, geothermal etc. could adequately meet humanity’s energy requirements,

Alongside prohibiting arms race and wars in quest for oil – primary contributor to economic and political turmoil.

The nuclear power plant in Koodankulam and elsewhere could effectively be converted into solar, biodiesel and biofuel generator becoming the powerhouse for the nation promoting business and employment opportunities at home.

Vegetation from land cultivation for substantial biodiesel, biofuel output maximizing the present use of cow dung, oil yielding plants e.g. Jatropha plant seeds readily usable after extraction without refining process among diverse choices deserve investments to resolve energy crisis.

Modernizing mass transit system to suit commuter convenience could considerably reduce energy consumption.

Simultaneously adjusting urban lifestyle with energy saving appliances and customized routine would cutback energy expenditure.

Indian leaderships in favor of global consensus on arms embargo and nuclear non-proliferation launching ambitious nuclear power programs based on the ‘responsible’ nuclear state perception foment nuclear competitiveness in the region.

Not to mention the conflict of interest in the two dimensional nuclear goals.

Governments around the world increasingly ignoring citizens’ voices misusing people granted power to serve all but the electorate needs.

Electoral mandate is to prioritize immediate and life dependent challenges rather than executing extemporaneous policies evidently detrimental in reality.

The government leaderships and eminent experts are urged to abandon nuclear power for greater good on a broad perspective and,

Change course in energy pursuits adopting pragmatic and peaceful approach to transportation in the high-speed technology age.

Hopefully rationality would prevail in the anti-nuclear settlement with strong political will to accept facts and alleviate citizens’ plight ending the months long non-violent dissent.

Good Luck! To residents and activists in Koodankulam, Jaitapur, Kaiga…and other nuclear sites in the commitment to nuclear free zone.

Peace to all!

Thank you.

United States Judicial Ethics – Troy Davis Execution

United States Judicial Ethics – Troy Davis Execution

 Padmini Arhant

Troy Anthony Davis, the innocent victim of death penalty was executed following the United States Supreme Court denial on the last minute worldwide appeal to save his life.

Troy Davis maintained innocence and was respectful towards all regardless with a peaceful message to end death penalty.

Troy Davis will be remembered for awakening global consciousness on the urgent need to abolish state sponsored unnatural death in the twenty first century.

Clemency rejection despite the verdict clouded with too many reasonable doubts is a scar on the present judicial policy influenced by politics and personal ideology.

United States taking pride as the modern democracy is at the crossroads to abandon practices threatening civil and human rights contradictory to democratic values – the foundation for republic-governed sovereignty.

Those in power with the ability to ‘Change’ the status quo and lead the nation towards social progress failed in the moral duty and responsibility by upholding their position to deny Troy Davis the right to exist.

Peaceful and non-violent global movement to address social impediments attributed to obsolete laws and detrimental political decisions could deliver the progressive outcome transcending polarizing factors for greater good.

The ultimate power remains with the people to transform the political will in the society.

Citizens’ representation not reflected in action requires collective response through corrective measures during the electoral process.

Troy Davis legacy to humanity to challenge injustice and medieval customs like death sentence will continue in his honor and memory forging peace and harmony.

Troy Davis presence in spirit will be cherished in service to humanity filled with compassion and healing power.

With heartfelt condolences to Troy Davis family and millions of supporters around the world especially in the excruciating final moments of his life,

Prayers offered for Troy Davis soul to rest in peace after the pain and suffering he endured on earth.

In remembrance of Troy Davis sacrifice for social justice,

Peace to all!

Thank you.

United States – Troy Davis Clemency Plea

United States – Troy Davis Clemency Plea

Padmini Arhant

Troy Davis, citizen of the great State of Georgia is scheduled for death sentence by lethal injection on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 7.00p.m.

Troy Davis conviction is a sad chapter in the United States legal history predominantly due to the accused denied a fair trial and the final verdict arrived with a shadow of doubt as admitted by the U.S. District Judge William T. Moore in his latest statement –

“New evidence casts some additional, minimal doubt on his conviction.”

The entire judicial process reveals the omissions on many accounts leading to the wrongful conviction of Troy Davis.

These facts deserve the legal and rational minds attention in the civil society that could possibly prevent the erroneous decision – sentencing the innocent to premature unnatural death.

First and foremost – There is no physical evidence found against Troy Davis – particularly No blood or DNA tied Davis to the crime and the weapon was never located.

Seven out of nine witnesses have recanted their earlier testimonies against Troy Davis claiming they were unlawfully obtained by coercion.

Of the remaining two witnesses –

One of them who has not recanted his testimony is Sylvester “Red” Coles — the principle alternative suspect against whom there is new evidence implicating him as the gunman. Nine individuals have signed affidavits implicating Sylvester Coles.

Furthermore, Sylvester Coles has stated to Quiana Glover that he was the real shooter. Quiana Glover did not testify at the original trial.

According to latest news reports – “Sylvester Coles could not be reached for comment on Monday and Tuesday, and did not answer his door this week when a reporter visited.”

Death penalty is a serious verdict with irreversible consequence upon execution.

The death sentence mired with doubts and influenced testimonies upheld as final verdict weakens the judiciary system failing to recognize and follow the fundamental judicial premise in criminal proceedings –

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.

Reasonable doubt is a standard of proof used in criminal trials. When a criminal defendant is prosecuted, the prosecutor must prove the defendant’s guilt Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.

If the jury—or the judge in a bench trial—has a reasonable doubt as to the defendant’s guilt, the jury or judge should pronounce the defendant NOT GUILTY.

The U.S. District Judge William T. Moore confirming the additional and minimal doubt overcast along with the facts presented in this case unequivocally clarify the prosecution failure to satisfy the principal requirement – Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.

The State of Georgia and the Superior Court behind the verdict is burdened with the responsibility to uphold the law of the land honoring individual rights and providing equal access to all parties to maintain flawlessness in judicial process.

The State of Georgia approval of Troy Davis clemency plea would be a monumental step towards ethical efficacy with the southern state leading the nation and the rest of the world on the path of light in ending capital punishment.

Troy Davis humble request to the State and the highest judicial authority for his liberty especially after serving more than twenty years for the crime he did not commit is hard to decline on legal and humanitarian grounds.

It is sincerely hoped that the State of Georgia and the Superior court would kindly repeal the execution of Troy Davis by lethal injection on this day.

Similarly the victim’s family – Mrs. Anneliese MacPhail, Mrs. Joan MacPhail, Mark MacPhail Jr., and Madison MacPhail in recognition of the kindness displayed by the deceased police officer Mark MacPhail could perhaps extend the gesture – sparing Troy Davis life to promote compassion and peace in memory of the honorable police officer Mark MacPhail.

In appreciation and respect for life,

Peace to all!

Thank you.

United States – Fourth of July (Independence Day) 2011

July 4, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

United States celebrates declaration of independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776.

Independence day marks the value of freedom, the inalienable human right conforming to natural law that all are born to be free.

Nations across the world have fought for sovereignty since civilization and the battle continues now in the modern age.

Previously the countries were seeking emancipation from foreign invaders on their soil and presently the struggle remains the same but made complex with the people fighting against the respective heads of state or governments appointed by external powers for political and economic dominance.

Land invasions are prevalent at extreme human suffering in the relevant domain denying them an opportunity to survive without violence.

Exerting authority by use of force through armed personnel traditionally recruited for national defense and public security is exclusively used for advancing personal agenda.

Freedom oppression is not restricted to political rights although the representation would grant equal access to the marginalized segments in the society drawing attention with funding for various problems related to social, economic and environment cause.

Economic freedom is increasingly deprived with governments under corporate control in the globalization era focused on remaining in power while special interests draft legislation to suit their immediate and long-term goals leaving the main street vulnerable to fiscal woes stemming from various industries assertive role in policy matter.

From taxation to toxic assets, the decisions favor the wealthiest and corporate interests with financial burden on the average citizens escalating beyond realistic means exacerbating national debt settlement.

The deficit contributed by unsubstantiated expansive warfare, corporate indulgence in activities producing unmitigated losses and inherent corruption within political class are addressed imposing severe austerities to the detriment of mainstream population despite them being the victims in the willful economic mismanagement.

Instead the quasi functionality sharing the public and private sector attributes directed at job oriented economic growth, environmental protection and social development in bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots could be nationally beneficial accelerating productivity and required efficiency at all levels.

In the contemporary period, freedom is determined by influential political powers discretionary actions executed under national security pretext defying international law on human rights and warfare.

Meanwhile political representatives elected to office in a democracy to curb misuse of power at the executive and legislative branch seemingly positioned at defending or objecting similar policies based on party affiliations rather than implications on humanity at large allowing individual sentiments override rationality.

The Superpower syndrome is exhibited in maintaining large military presence via combat forces and/or utilizing sophisticated technology to circumvent the contentious ‘boots on the ground’ factor,

Besides holding the so-called terror suspects in detention indefinitely without due process showing little or no concern for others rights and their freedom aspirations.

Patriot Act targeting citizens for political reasons is an affirmation of discriminatory law fostering isolation and polarization within diverse society.

United States freedom is rejoiced every year with fanfare and justified in commemorating hard fought independence.

Simultaneously being instrumental, as honest brokers barring preferential treatment in the establishment of independent states would further signify the prominent image as the land of the free and home of the brave.

For instance in the Middle East peace process – according to the latest reports on June 29, 2011:

“Military cooperation with Israel is at an all-time high;

President Barack Obama has supplied Israel with a key missile defense system;

The U.S. boycotted an anti-racism conference seen as anti-Israel; and

America is set to spend valuable international political capital beating back a Palestinian independence declaration at the United Nations in September.”

U.S. involvement behind the scenes with respect to Libya, Egypt, and constantly against Palestine favoring the strongest ally Israel has been counterproductive derailing the six decades old conflict resolution.

Whether it is Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and poignantly Palestine among Islamic nations or North Korea, Tibet, Burma…in Asia,

Likewise in Africa and Latin America in the absence of vested interests,

United States and U.N. permanent Security Council members’ procrastination in extending unequivocal support and solidarity to the persecuted citizens’ liberation movement has consistently disrupted long overdue political liberty and republic rule free of foreign influence.

U.N. Security Council permanent membership reconfiguration request with members representing the economic and geopolitical status reflecting twenty first century progress and constraints is rejected excepting false promises to certain aspirants in order to secure trade agreements – confirms the lack of commitment for genuine world peace.

United States is at the helm to be the wind beneath the wings for the nations in rising like a phoenix.

Freedom cherished at home is dedicated to those who sacrificed their precious life,

Notwithstanding the courageous patriots for their ingenuity and thoughtful framework to guide the nation on the path to glory upholding democratic principles, national sovereignty through republic governance and honoring civil rights.

Happy Fourth of July!

Peace on earth.

Thank you.

IDEA – Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

June 1, 2011

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein responding to your message

From: United States Senator Dianne Feinstein

To:        Padmini Arhant

Dear  Ms. Arhant,

I received your letter expressing your support for fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). I appreciate the time you took to write and welcome the opportunity to respond.

As you know, when Congress enacted IDEA in 1975, it authorized the Federal Government to contribute up to 40 percent of the cost associated with educating students with disabilities.

This commitment was to ensure that the nearly six million students with special needs receive the same quality of education as their peers without overburdening local school districts.

To date, this commitment has never been fully funded. During fiscal year 2010, $11.5 billion was provided to states for special education, roughly 17 percent of the total cost.

In fiscal year 2009, the Federal Government provided 34 percent of the cost of special education with additional funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

This was the closest the government has ever come to matching the 40 percent commitment. As states cut back on education budgets, local school districts have been forced to cut some of their services or raise taxes to pay for the special education services they are mandated to provide.

I share your concern that school districts may be overburdened by the costs of special education.

During the 111th Congress, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) introduced the “IDEA Full Funding Act,” which would have fulfilled the commitment to fully fund IDEA over an eight-year period.

That bill did not get passed before Congress adjourned, so it will need to be reintroduced to be considered in the 112th Congress. Ensuring that all students receive a quality education is a priority of mine, and it is helpful for me to hear your views on this issue.

As Congress considers the reauthorization of IDEA, please be assured that I will work with my colleagues to find responsible and cost-effective ways to provide school districts with adequate special education funding.

Once again, thank you for writing. If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office.

Best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

To:  U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein

Honorable. Senator Dianne Feinstein

Dear Senator Feinstein,

Your update in response to my petition on IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) funding is much appreciated.

There is no doubt that fiscal budgets’ priorities are misplaced with education, health and essential services marginalized over wasteful spending.

As stated in your letter, I concur with you in entirety on this issue that –

IDEA Full Funding Act introduced by Senator Tom Harkin requires reintroduction in the 112th Congress.

Again I would go further on this matter to request Congressional members on both sides of the aisle to not only reconsider but also stamp their approval without any procrastination to prove their commitment to American families.

Federal funding towards vital programs such as IDEA providing equal opportunity to significant population with special needs is prudent investment that guarantees quality education resulting in brighter future for all.

It is reassuring to learn about congressional initiative to reauthorize IDEA and your dedication along with other esteemed members cooperation would expedite the passage of this important Act.

School districts are faced with a dilemma in the mandatory compliance not backed with adequate federal or state funding forcing them to streamline overheads, which means credentialed and skilled educators are no longer affordable.

Other undesirable alternatives are eliminating core services that could potentially transform life for talented students qualifying under IDEA including others seeking basic to advanced assistance.

Investments in education and health for citizens across the social, economic and political spectrum are monumental for national progress.

It can no longer be categorized as discretionary spending especially with definitive returns on these crucial programs directly benefiting the economy and the general society.

I extend my support to issues related to enhancing American lives and humanity at large.

Thank you for your solidarity and look forward to successful IDEA enactment.

With Best Wishes,

Libya – The End Game

April 4, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Middle East uprisings are evolving into prolonged violent crackdowns.

Libya has been in the center stage allowing the dictatorship to negotiate with the western democratic powers.

The reports on events such as secret talks between the heir apparent Saif al-Islam Gaddafi aides and U.K. foreign ministry on the Libyan leadership substitution rather than regime change with people choice is the fundamental cause for the frustration witnessed in the regional demonstrations.

Further, the defectors and the next of kin from the declining dictatorial powers viz. Libya and Egypt are granted asylum in the United Kingdom revealing the strong relationship maintained with the unpopular leaderships.

The United States refusal to recognize the National Transitional Council in Benghazi, Libya based on “We don’t know who they are,” is a weak and disingenuous argument considering –

The White House admission of CIA operatives on the ground along with MI5 surveillance of not only the Libyan opposition but also the entire pro-democracy movement in the region.

Despite rigorous monitoring the United States and United Kingdom might refute information about the people represented revolutions,

Nonetheless the ordinary citizens from all walks of life in these societies have risked their lives to openly plead through western media for recognition.

The world witnessed their ally Muammar Gaddafi and the clan brutality in the genocide against civilians and army personnel rejecting the shoot at sight order confirming the leaderships’ true characteristics and utter disregard for life in general.

Libyan massacre through aerial bombings and ground assault since political unrest epitomizes Muammar Gaddafi and the descendants’ ruthlessness to remain in power with the oligarchy complicity in the decadent power survival.

Muammar Gaddafi and the dynasty having exemplified unparalleled monstrosity arguably is the ultimate threat to humanity compared with any groups suspected by the western powers in their procrastination to legitimize the republic appointed National Transitional Council awaiting opportunity to lead the revolution.

It is clearly indicative of the irony in the leading western democracies – the United States and the United Kingdom willingness to conduct meetings with the regime while the revolutionary council members are sidelined exacerbating the citizens’ plight in the forty-two years of oppression.

In the combat zone, the recent casualties suffered from NATO attack against Libyan opposition position impending investigation is yet another compounding factor generating a perception of misplaced coalition with the regime more emboldened from the setbacks on the population front.

The dictatorships defiance to reconcile terms with reality and the hope of being salvaged by the powerful liaison will not come to fruition due to the imminent regime collapse evident in the fractured government under Muammar Gaddafi.

Besides the global empire allies in Libya, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan…attention to the developments in the democratic systems is vital to realize the people power impact on the prominent leaderships defeated in the respective political actions viz.

Canada – The government led by the Prime Minister Stephen Harper brought down by no-confidence vote in the Parliament on March 26, 2011 with opposition strengthening ties to remove the failed leadership from power.

Germany – The German Chancellor Angela Merkel was delivered a humiliating loss in a poignant regional election on March 27, 2011 over nuclear policy reviving the Green party resurgence.

These are phenomenal evolutions in the inevitable new beginning on the horizon.

Attempts to evade or circumvent the long overdue political transformation would precipitate the natural course resulting in the rapid expulsion of forces responsible for the status quo.

Hence the authoritarian leaderships relying on the influential alliance to suppress the public demand for the cessation of power are reminded to acknowledge the revolutions resolve to implement the desirable change through republic governance.

The dynasties and demagoguery era is nearing end with the meaningful democracy pledged to national interest unlike the prevalent self and special interest succeeding in republic empowerment.

Again the reforms offered in the wake of mass protest are unauthentic considering the exchanges within the establishment.

People involved in seeking political freedom are requested not to relent and accept superficial or hypothetical proposals meant to benefit the puppet governments run by the international nexus organization.

Libya and other oppressive leaderships using violence against own people cannot sustain power irrespective of the western efforts to extend the political crises by default predominantly for economic and strategic advantages in the oil rich nations.

Any genuine resolution to Libyan warfare would comprise legitimizing the citizens’ council thereby denouncing the existing autocracy and expediting Muammar Gaddafi, family and associates’ departure.

On the contrary the deliberations and discreet dialogues with the preferred nominee Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi implicated for Libyan bloodshed confirms the western democratic powers’ paradoxical maneuver.

Striking deals with repressive regimes involved in the slaughter is anything but democratic.

The hypocritical stance in providing refuge and recourse to belligerent leaderships sharing identical traits with terror masterminds especially in killing innocent civilians is noteworthy.

Muammar Gaddafi and the loyalists never had credibility among the people persecuted over several decades.

Launching successors from Gaddafi family or the cabinet would be resistance to real democracy by the democratic powers lacking in transparency and accountability on the domestic and foreign policy contributing to human suffering.

Libyan revolution persistence in the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi is necessary for true liberation and honoring martyrdom across the nation to free Libya.

Wishing the people of Libya triumph over tyranny.

Peace, progress and prosperity to Libyan patriots.

Thank you.

Libyan Revolution Seek Public Trial on Muammar Gaddafi and Sons for brutal massacre

February 22, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

The world witnessed the brutal massacre of innocent civilians by the ruthless dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

Despite shutting down communications and denying access to independent journalists as well as foreign media, the demonstrators found alternative sources to have their voices heard.

The general complacency to tyranny in the twenty first century for economic and strategic interests has largely contributed to the prevalent atrocities in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Human greed for power and territorial conquest see no boundaries in causing death, carnage and destruction.

The autocrats do not act alone in their obstinacy to remain in power.

These puppet regimes are emboldened by the powerful conglomerate’s support with no respect for life and democracy is inconvenient in the close economic relationship between them.

Muammar Gaddafi together with his sons should face public trial for aerial bombing using national air force, naval attacks and hiring mercenaries to kill unarmed non-violent protesters in Tripoli, Benghazi…the people were slain mercilessly by the authoritarians to extend the undemocratic rule.

The perpetrators having no remorse for the horrific crimes against humanity must be tried and sentenced with life imprisonment given their desire to stay in Libya.

It is time for justice and the citizens with the army must apprehend the unruly defiant regime without delay to prevent further bloodshed.

Yet another warning to Muammar al-Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi and remaining members of the family and political party –

Surrender and face trial for the immense casualties notwithstanding your blatant threat on national television to continue the horrendous assault against peaceful pro-democracy movement.

Libyan revolution along with defected army must proceed and occupy the television station and primarily Gaddafi residence.

U.N. Security Council action is crucial in implementing the ‘No-Fly Zone’ proposal from the Libyan citizens for protection against foreign artillery and henchmen used by Gaddafi in this political turmoil.

Any hesitation from the UNSC in this regard would result in severe loss of lives holding them directly responsible for the inaction or procrastination.

Libyan revolution must march forward and take control of all strategic installations.

Muammar al-Gaddafi and especially the heir Saif al-Islam must heed to public demand or deal with the consequences.

As stated earlier the revolution has prevailed with the autocratic rulers overthrown and anyone regardless of stature backing the despots confirm similar characteristics posing danger to the society they represent.

Accordingly they would also contend with synonymous situation.

Citizens in Libya are commended for their extraordinary courage and sacrifice. You are close to victory and nothing can stop you from this inevitable political transformation.

Keep your spirits high and focus on your vision to uproot evil from the Libyan soil.

Good Luck! To all Libyan citizens for an expedited political independence.

Thank you.

Libyan Regime Ultimatum to People

February 20, 2011

By Padmini Arhant

Libyan regime’s heir – Muammar Gaddafi’s son appeared on national television to warn the people to relent or deal with more casualties emphasizing that they will be confronting Colonel Gaddafi.

The self-proclaimed unknown leader has generously provided 48 hours for the oppressed mass to respond to the ultimatum.

There is a serious misconception in this context as it is a common syndrome among despotic leaderships.

The people have conveyed their message loud and clear on their decision to end the 42 years of oppressive era.

If the Gaddafis’ were paying any attention to Egypt revolution they would realize that pro-democracy movement do not negotiate with dictatorships.

Any use of force or threat to unarmed civilians will not be tolerated and it would be the worst blunder for the regime and the influential powers behind them.

The embattled Libyan leaderships also implied that United States and European Union will not approve the political transition for economic interests.

Now it is entirely up to to the respective democratic models to step forward and exemplify their true position with condemnation in the serious political crises that has claimed more than 300 lives through merciless killings and not even sparing the mourners at the slain peaceful protesters’ funeral.

Gaddafi government is not the authority as witnessed in Egypt. The regime backers are the real threat to democracy. The travesty is the millions of innocent lives in Libya and elsewhere are pawned for oil profits and utilizing naval base to continue warfare.

The global powers behind this obstruction have no respect for life and they cannot possibly be representing a democratic society.

Otherwise the Libyan Army under Gaddafi’s direct authority would not be shooting peaceful and non-violent dissenters in cold blood without any remorse for the heinous crime against humanity.

The massacre takes place in world view and yet the global society is silent to the atrocity with the autocratic ruler dictating terms to the persecuted population on the indefinite status quo.

Hence the message for Muammar Gaddafi, immediate family including distant relatives and associates is – Honor the republic will and step down immediately with dignity. The 48 hours applies to their resignation from power and exile or face trial.

Again any further brutal attacks against the peaceful revolution would be counterproductive and completely unacceptable.

Meanwhile the revolution should prepare to take control of the television station, government buildings and the residential palace of the deposed leadership.

Good Luck! To the revolution for an inevitable victory. Please remember to pursue peace and non-violent approach in realizing your dream. You are about to make history in liberating yourselves from decades of political suppression and human rights violation.

Thank you.
